One of our favorite activities has been using counting manipulatives and pattern blocks during small-group stations. My students recently worked together to sort cubes by color. These tools have also given my students a hands-on way to practice and strengthen their understanding of numbers. Seeing them explain their thinking while building with the materials has been such a rewarding moment.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the students were so happy! Their faces lit up as we opened the materials, and many of them could not wait for the next day when they were set out for use. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve diving deeper into problem-solving activities. Students will use these math tools to practice addition and subtraction strategies, practice compose and decompose and explore early geometry concepts. With the support of these materials, we're able to make math both engaging and meaningful.
