In my AP Statistics class my students are up at the board everyday collaborating, reasoning through difficult problems, helping each other and most importantly talking about statistics. The level of engagement in my room has increased greatly. \r\n\r\nIt is such a relief knowing that I will always have enough room on the walls for all of my students to work and I can very quickly get a picture of exactly what the students understand and what they need more help with as I scan the room. Before I received your donation my students were much more limited in the amount of space they could use so I was more hesitant to use the boards for more involved problems. Now they have plenty of space to reason through problems and explore possible solutions.\r\n\r\nLast week I introduced the general concept of a confidence interval and the students worked together to derive the formulas for a confidence interval of one proportion and for the difference of proportions as groups without any help from me. In the past they would get frustrated and give up but I did not see that behavior this year and I believe it is because of the collaborative work they have been doing at the boards. They are much more willing to take chances. I also saw significantly higher scores on their first quiz on this material than I have seen in previous years. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making a thinking classroom a reality for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1731215844986,"projectUrl":"project/white-boards-and-markers-to-help-build-a/8746795/","projectTitle":"White Boards and Markers to Help Build a Thinking Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. ESKENAZI","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9734652"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74276","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":540,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":63,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":74276,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pacific Collegiate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pacific Collegiate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-cruz-county-office-of-education/pacific-collegiate-school/74276"}
