Reading books that reinforce and model to students what they can do when feeling big emotions is super crucial. One of the favorite book series is the Ninja series. Reading the frustrated Ninja to my third grade boy group really opened up the conversation about frustration and anger and what that looks like in their life. It was an insightful conversation given social norms expect boys to not share they're feeling this much. The ninja series allow students to connect to the character and share their own experience. \r\n\r\nBooka about making mistakes and normalizing learning from them has been helpful to students that experience anxiety. The look in kids faces when they understand the power of learning from mistakes and growth mindset is one of my favorite moments. It sets up the students for success because the art of being a great learner is being okay with the learning curve process of facing challenges and learning from mistakes.","fullyFundedDate":1755644579355,"projectUrl":"project/each-book-you-read-adds-a-shelf-in-your/9610889/","projectTitle":"Each Book You Read, Adds a Shelf in Your Brain!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mendoza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9818808"},{"teacherId":9597688,"projectId":9050910,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation! The students were so excited when they saw the materials—especially the weighted stuffed animals and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. The stuffed animals have helped students who have a hard time focusing feel calm and comfortable during reading and work time. \r\nThe books have made a big difference many students who didn't like reading before are now excited to pick up a book they enjoy. The highlighted mechanical pencils, paper, glue, and snacks have also been super helpful for our daily activities and writing projects. \r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on personal narratives, and all the supplies are helping students focus, stay engaged, and feel successful. We're planning a celebration to share their finished stories soon.\r\n\r\nThanks again, Kierra, for helping make our classroom a more comfortable, fun, and supportive place to learn!","fullyFundedDate":1740416556174,"projectUrl":"project/ms-nieves-special-education-classroom/9050910/","projectTitle":"Ms. Nieves Special Education Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nieves","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9597688"},{"teacherId":9597688,"projectId":8504621,"letterContent":"When we first received the new resources, my students were absolutely thrilled!. One specific project we've been working on is creating hands on art activities coloring is a form of breaks they use to self regulate, i was able to provide all of them with coloring pages and all of the materials needed for them to take home and use in their own pencil case, such as glue, coloring pencils crayons, and markers. exploring new books for our reading circles there is not many books they like to read but the Diary of the Wimpy Kid is what they are obsessed with and it provides them with the practice necessary for them to grow. Outside of the classroom these materials are used for community gatherings such as literacy night where the students got to decorate their own bookmarks with the markers provided by Donors Choose.\r\n I can really tell how appreciative the students were for these new resources they are still thanking me until this day but it would not have been possible without your help!These materials have completely transformed how we approach our lessons. For instance using the weighted monkey allows them to self regulate and soothe themselves. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not only learning . Your support has sparked their curiosity and motivation in ways I can't thank you enough for.","fullyFundedDate":1730792610368,"projectUrl":"project/ms-ns-special-education-back-to-schoo/8504621/","projectTitle":"Ms. N.'s Special Education Back to School List","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nieves","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9597688"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101498","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":304,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":86,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.6,"schoolId":101498,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rocketship Si SE Puede Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rocketship Si SE Puede Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/santa-clara-county-office-of-education/rocketship-si-se-puede/101498"}
