Many of the students I work with struggle with sensory regulation, and these resources have made an immediate difference. When the materials first arrived, students were excited and curious. They were eager to explore the different fidgets, squishies, and tools. What began as excitement turned into purposeful use, as students learned how each tool could help them focus, regulate their emotions, and participate more fully in learning activities.\r\n\r\nWe have incorporated these tools into daily classroom routines, targeted small groups, and school counselor-led sessions. Our special education students now have access to a wide variety of supports tailored to their needs, and general education students have benefited as well. The phonics phones have been especially impactful during ELA instruction, helping students practice reading, and have helped students manage their voice levels. during conflict practice. Fidgets and sensory tools have allowed students to redirect excess energy in positive ways, increasing engagement and decreasing maladaptive behaviors. Additionally, several tools have been used during ERMHS counseling sessions to support students in navigating emotions and developing healthy coping strategies.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue embedding these sensory supports into academic instruction and social-emotional learning groups. Our next steps include explicitly teaching students how to independently choose the tools that best support their regulation needs, building lifelong self-management skills. Your generosity has not only provided materials — it has empowered our students with strategies that help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Thank you for making this meaningful impact possible.","fullyFundedDate":1701361690536,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-tools-for-self-regulation/7617068/","projectTitle":"Sensory Tools for Self-Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sefe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8622961_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773095963313","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8622961"},{"teacherId":1484506,"projectId":9695783,"letterContent":"My kindergarten students are already using the dramatic play materials during center time to explore real-life scenarios through imaginative play. One of our favorite moments so far was watching a small group turn the play kitchen into a restaurant. Students chose roles as chefs, servers, and customers, practiced polite language while taking orders, counted play money, and worked together to keep their restaurant running. When the materials were first introduced, the excitement was immediate. Smiles, gasps, and eager hands filled the room as students explored each item and began creating stories together. Even students who are usually more reserved jumped right in, confidently choosing roles and collaborating with classmates. These materials have become a meaningful part of our learning day. Moving forward, we will continue to rotate themed dramatic play centers such as community helpers, grocery stores, and doctor's offices to connect play with our literacy and social-emotional lessons. Through these experiences, students will build vocabulary, strengthen communication skills, practice cooperation, and grow in confidence as learners. Castles, houses, and towers popped up around the room, and one student proudly shouted, \"Look what I made!\"\r\n\r\nSince then, Magnatiles have become a favorite during both math lessons and free play. Students are learning about shapes, balance, and teamwork while having so much fun they don't even realize they're practicing STEM skills.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue using Magnatiles to connect play with learning. Next month, my students will use them in a STEM challenge where they'll design bridges and test which ones can hold the most weight.
