While many of our donors use technology at home, the way it's used in schools goes far beyond convenience—it creates access and opportunity. Many of our students do not have access to high-quality color printers at home, and for some, printing even a simple assignment can be stressful or costly. Having this technology available at school removes that barrier and allows students to focus on learning rather than worrying about how they will complete an assignment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for students has been the ability to use the printers for real-world and school-wide projects. Students have created senior night posters for athletes and club members, designing full-color posters with photos, graphics, and personal touches. For many students, this is their first experience producing something that looks truly professional. Seeing their work displayed publicly builds pride, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.\r\n\r\nThe printers have also transformed everyday classroom assignments. Students can now include color photos, diagrams, and images that make their work more engaging and meaningful. Assignments truly \"pop,\" and students are better able to communicate their understanding through visuals. This has been especially impactful for visual learners and students who benefit from creative expression alongside written work.\r\n\r\nAccess to these printers has been especially meaningful for students who lack resources at home. Instead of scrambling to find a place to print, missing out on opportunities, or settling for lower-quality work, students now have reliable access during the school day. This reduces stress, promotes equity, and ensures that all students—regardless of their circumstances—have the chance to produce their best work.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, this project has helped create a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Your generosity has removed a simple but significant obstacle for many students, strengthened school culture, and empowered students to take pride in their learning. Most importantly, it shows students that their community believes in them and is invested in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1762568453224,"projectUrl":"project/school-is-better-in-color/9567527/","projectTitle":"School Is Better in Color!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tsuda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825872"},{"teacherId":9827514,"projectId":9174169,"letterContent":"Your additional support has enabled me to create a space where my students can thrive to their fullest potential. The various uses of the supplies provided aimed to provide students with extra materials if they needed them for class or any assignments. Our students may not always have the necessary materials to bring their ideas to life or to achieve their desired success. However, your support has allowed our students to borrow pens from my office to take notes in class or charge their laptops with the power surge before starting their day, especially if they forgot to charge the night before or were unable to do so.\r\n\r\nBeyond providing physical support, some of the items given have provided mental health support for our students. The stuffed animal has become a popular item amongst the students, especially when they come in distraught. Many have noted that it allowed them to feel calm and collect their thoughts after feeling comforted by it. It provides the time for the student to process their emotions and find the words they wish to share with me, if they feel comfortable doing so. The additional signs on the wall, as a school counselor, also let them know whether I'm available or where they can reach out for further support.\r\n\r\nThese items may be small and minimal in the larger scheme of the school year; however, they provide additional support in day-to-day activities that add up for our students. My students never imagined their work being displayed in such a polished and official way. It was a powerful and validating for them to see their names displayed next to their artwork for the entire school community to see.\r\n\r\nThis project has done more than enhance our hallway, it has boosted student confidence and taught them how art is not only created, but presented and celebrated. It has also been a learning tool for other programs that we share the hallway with. This form of display encourages others to admire but not touch or damage the work of others. As we continue rotating in new artwork, students will be encouraged to continue taking pride in their creations, pushing themselves creatively, and learning how to communicate their artistic vision to an audience.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your contributions. The students have been using the donations during different events for healing, self care, and working through past traumas. When students first saw the materials, there was so much excitement in the air and eagerness to start using them. \r\nDuring group sessions, students used the expandable breathing sphere as a talking piece, and you could hear students calming down while sharing. It was a great tool to help self-regulate breathing and a calming technique. It was also a great tool for icebreakers, as students wanted to use it and could only use it if they were willing to talk. \r\nStudents also look forward to the inspirational pens and stickers that they could use throughout the day in different classes. They were also great reminders to keep going and moving forward. The textured calming stickers were also a great hit, as students used them for breathing techniques throughout the day. During different group sessions, we made friendship, bracelets or we journaled and the students appreciated the interactive participation and activities while able to open up and share their feelings and experiences.\r\nThe donated supplies were not just for the students but also allowed our team to stay organized with our wall calendar and notepads to take notes on what activities needed to be done. They have been very appreciative of the tools provided and donated to better assist our students in moving forward past their traumas.
