Your donation of the play kitchen, play food, chef puppet, stickers, pizza book, and sorting items have profoundly enhanced my students' engagement and increased their motivation to work on their communication skills. They don't even realize that they are 'working'!\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they saw our new class kitchen! They now have more opportunities for communicating and collaborating thanks to your generous gift.The kitchen and food have given my students a fun and interactive way to participate in imaginary play while building many skills.\r\n \r\nBy providing these resources, you are investing in the growth of articulation, fluency, social skills, expressive language, receptive language, peer interactions, sequencing, turn-taking, prepositions, cooperating, sharing, joint attention, and increasing their Mean Length of Utterance, all while having fun! I have been able to target articulation by having the students practice the sounds that they struggle with while naming various items in the kitchen (e.g., cups, knife, spoon, fork, oven, microwave, cook, hot, cold, mixing, carrot, broccoli, etc.) or by hearing my model of correct sound productions. The food items and food stickers have provided materials for my students to sort by size, color, fruits, and vegetables. They have worked on comparative adjectives (e.g., \"the apple is bigger than the strawberry\", \"the egg is smaller than the pumpkin\", etc). They have worked on prepositions (e.g., \"put the milk in the refrigerator\").\r\n\r\nIt is so wonderful to have these materials to help my students build their communication skills. Seeing my students so excited to participate and build connections through play is amazing! Another great thing is that the materials are durable and great quality. The materials will benefit my current students and will continue to impact countless young children in the future. We are incredibly fortunate to have you as a partner in our mission. I will continue to work diligently to create a nurturing environment that fosters growth, learning, and joy for my students.\r\n\r\nWe cannot thank you enough for your generous support. Thank you for your dedication to making a difference. I am extremely grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755746061323,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-up-communication-in-the-speech-r/9624629/","projectTitle":"Cooking Up Communication In The Speech Room!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. May","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9047431_orig.jpg?crop=432,432,x530,y319&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1716403942400","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9047431"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59092","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":337,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.2,"schoolId":59092,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monarch Grove Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Monarch Grove Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-luis-coastal-unified-school-district/monarch-grove-elementary-school/59092"}
