Students cheered, clapped, shouted and jumped up and down with joy when they heard the news! Our administrative staff was equally in awe of how quickly this community was able to make this most impactful request happen and for the unbelievable amount of support Greer garnered from you all! \r\n\r\nJust days after this project was fully funded online we received a shipment of desks that arrived during school hours on warm Wednesday afternoon in mid October 2025. They came via a huge semi-truck and with the help of our school secretary and custodian, the driver unloaded a wooden pallet of 28 desks wrapped in packing plastic into the school cafeteria. The combined team of nine 1st and 2nd grade teachers worked afterschool the next day (Thursday) to unbox and build all 28 desks in less than 2 hours so they would be ready ASAP for the class who had not had decent desks for over two months since the school year had started back in August. Students in the afterschool program who share the cafeteria space also became filled with excitement to see \"new\" desks arriving at their school and to watch their teachers working together so diligently and purposefully to get our class desks ready! With more help from the night custodial staff, admin, and our wonderful classroom Instructional assistant the class walked into a room with fresh new desks, neatly arranged and ready to use first thing Friday morning! \r\n\r\nSince then, we have had better classroom organization and places to put student materials. Students have been able to do art and science and have plenty of room on their desk tops to work and create. The footprint of our class has greatly improved. We have more space to get around, do movement and play activities, make fun group seating arrangements and better overall management each day. As the teacher, having desks for each student has helped my stress level go down immensely. Thank you so very very much! Together, because of your support, we cheer and applaud you!
