Your support allowed us to provide books in both Spanish and English—helping our students continue developing their bilingual language skills in a fun and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nMany of our students do not have access to personal books at home, so they were thrilled to receive books they could truly call their own. This year, we also incorporated mindfulness into our learning, and the journals and pens you donated were incredibly special to my students. Many were especially excited to share the positive messages printed on their pencils—small but powerful reminders of encouragement and self-worth.\r\n\r\nOne of the books I selected for my students was Sobreviví—a popular series among older readers. I knew that offering a high-interest book, especially in Spanish, would inspire them to keep reading over the summer. Since these stories are based on real-life events, they also provide a great opportunity for students to engage with non-fiction vocabulary in context.\r\n\r\nThe second book, Hatchet, was one we had hoped to read together during the school year, but unfortunately didn't have enough copies in our school library. You can imagine how excited the kids were to finally receive their own copy!\r\n\r\nThese books have not only sparked excitement and curiosity—they're also helping students build a lifelong love of reading while continuing to grow their bilingual skills. Thank you again for your kindness and continued support. It truly makes a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1746608824855,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-bilingual-students-on-their-j/9306492/","projectTitle":"Supporting Bilingual Students on Their Journey to Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8883523"},{"teacherId":8883523,"projectId":8939870,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when they received their Christmas gifts. When students took out their blankets and they were personalized, the kids were so grateful. I heard so many comments like, \"this is great! My name is on it.\"\r\n\r\nThe students were super excited when they walked into the classroom and there was a gift bag waiting for them. They asked if they could open the gift and I said yes. I explained why I wanted them to have each material in the bag.\r\n\r\nI also printed prompts for students to be able to write about in their journal. Positive prompts. They were so happy and asked to bring their blanket for the last day of school, since it was going to be movie day. \r\n\r\nNext steps are to continue providing positive prompts and strategies to promote wellness in 5th grade.","fullyFundedDate":1731973484976,"projectUrl":"project/mindfulness-and-warmness-during-winter-b/8939870/","projectTitle":"Mindfulness and Warmness During Winter Break!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8883523"},{"teacherId":8883523,"projectId":8745520,"letterContent":"I have been learning so many strategies in my Mindfulness class that I have brought into my classroom. I am learning to communicate better with people in my life and this includes my students. We take breaks more often as needed and just take time to breathe and practice wellness. \r\n\r\nI take class every Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM and I am just amazed at all I am learning and how much it supports not only my students but colleagues as well.
