They were even more thrilled to see that each blanket had been customized with their own name on it, which made the gift feel personal and truly special. For many of my students, having something that belongs just to them and reflects their identity is incredibly meaningful. That day, we turned our celebration into a cozy classroom experience by watching a movie together. Every student found a comfortable spot, sat down with their classmates, and wrapped themselves in their personalized blankets. The room instantly felt warmer, not only because of the soft blankets but because of the sense of joy and belonging that spread across their faces. To make the day even more memorable, we prepared hot chocolate together. Students carefully added marshmallows, stirred their cups, and laughed as they enjoyed this simple but heartwarming treat. Afterward, they used our Christmas activity materials to spend quality time with one another before winter break. They colored, wrote, created crafts, and shared conversations that strengthened their friendships. \r\n\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are reading two class novels—one in Spanish and one in English—to strengthen their literacy skills in both languages. They actively participate in discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and make meaningful connections between the texts and their own lives.","fullyFundedDate":1764870412135,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-stay-mindful-and-warm-d/9907451/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Stay Mindful and Warm During Winter Break!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8883523"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4944","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":702,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.0,"schoolId":4944,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Willow Glen Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Willow Glen Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-jose-unified-school-district/willow-glen-elementary-school/4944"}
