Your generosity has had a tremendous impact on my teaching. With the gift card, I was able to access high-quality, ready-made resources and lesson plans that have added a fresh and creative dimension to my classroom. These materials have made it easier for me to design engaging, hands-on activities and interactive lessons that captivate my students and help them better understand complex chemistry concepts.\r\n\r\nThe visual timer and rolling cart have also greatly improved the organization and efficiency of my classroom. The timer helps keep activities on track, ensuring that students stay focused and productive during class, while the rolling cart provides much-needed storage and portability for materials, making transitions smoother and faster. These tools have not only helped me streamline classroom management but have also allowed me to create a more organized and dynamic learning environment. Your contribution has been invaluable in helping me create and design lessons that are not only more engaging but also more dynamic. With the ability to use interactive digital tools, I've been able to integrate visually rich content such as 3D models of molecules and interactive simulations, which have truly transformed how I present complex concepts to my students.\r\n\r\nThe iPad and Apple Pencil have also allowed me to implement a more personalized approach to teaching, where I can offer immediate feedback on student work, annotate directly on their assignments, and create custom resources that speak to their individual needs. It's incredibly rewarding to see how this technology is inspiring curiosity and excitement in my students as they actively participate in their learning. They immediately became more engaged in my lesson, and enjoyed learning about phase changes and comparing the freezing points of various liquids, including milk, half and half, and juice. Students also learned about colligative properties and how adding solutes like sugar affect the freezing point of a solution. They compared different ice cream, sorbet, and gelato recipes, calculated the concentration of sugar and fat in each, and explored how this impacted the texture and freezing behavior of the substance. It was the tastiest class they have ever attended!\r\n\r\nThe Yoto player and accompanying set of headphones has been very helpful in promoting mental health for my students. I have obtained various Yoto cards for students to listen to when needed, some of which contain mindfulness practices, meditations, emotional regulation strategies, and stress relief stories. This has been incredibly helpful by giving my students a moment to sit in a calm, quiet environment and find peace in their busy school day. Students have shared that they look forward to their \"Yoto time\" and feel less stressed coming to class knowing they can take a moment away from the chaos of high school chemistry if needed.\r\n\r\nMy students and I truly appreciate your support of our classroom, and for providing us with the ability to make high school chemistry both more fun and more relaxing.","fullyFundedDate":1733180963214,"projectUrl":"project/the-chemistry-of-ice-cream/8926699/","projectTitle":"The Chemistry of Ice Cream","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anthony","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829505"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38239","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2644,"numTeachers":97,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"27.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.8,"schoolId":38239,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Torrey Pines High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Torrey Pines High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-dieguito-union-hs-district/torrey-pines-high-school/38239"}
