It has become harder and harder to get them interested in reading. With the books that you donated (Dogman, Bad Guys and Pizza and Taco) their attention is CAPTURED completely!!! \r\n\r\nStamina is so important in second grade. What I have discovered with these books is that the kids don't want to stop reading. So the love of reading is developed without me having to force them to read. \r\n\r\nIn addition, these books have character development, story elements, interesting text features and advanced vocabulary. They are so happy with the books and almost argue over who is going to read them first! Thank you so much. My students absolutely love reading them. Unfortunately, because I have a Kindergarten class, we do not have access to challenging books unless I go out and purchase them. My students have access to easy readers with predictable text or just picture books. \r\n Amazingly, early on this school year my students began to decode much earlier than anticipated ...which is great! Unfortunately, I did not have the leveled books to meet their needs. Now they have access to the books during their independent reading time and they can read quietly or with a partner.
