The waste cartridge and toner often ran out without warning, rendering the printer useless for days at a time. For math class, this is detrimental. We are all about showing work with paper and pencil, taking notes, and annotating problems so we can understand what a word problem is asking us to do. No printer without warning meant students were not getting the materials that they needed. This was especially harmful for students who needed different work, whether it was in their home language or just something extra to support them.\r\n\r\nSince we got our printer in January, the school printer has been on its best behavior! This does not mean the new classroom printer has been dormant. Personal Learning Projects ended in February, which meant I was printing everyone's scripts. More students are working ahead, so I have been printing quizzes and tests in class while teaching. During times when I don't have another staff member in my class, I can print something without having to leave my students alone only to be stuck behind a kindergarten aide printing a month's worth of worksheets (we still love them!).\r\n\r\nAfter a few kind words and a blessing, this printer has become a vital and appreciated member of middle school math. Although it has not been used for its original purpose, it has still gone beyond expectations and allowed me to make sure my students are getting what they need. Because of you, my students now have access to a variety of safe cardboard cutting tools. Because of budget and the importance of recycling, we use a lot of cardboard in our class in hopes of showing its versatility and teaching sustainability. The tools have completely transformed how we work and create together using cardboard.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment the tools arrived, students across all grade levels were buzzing with excitement! They were eager to try them out, learn how they worked, and immediately became engaged and inspired to build. The electric cardboard cutter was an instant favorite, for the students AND THEIR PARENTS! Students were amazed by how smoothly it cut and felt so empowered being able to safely and independently bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nIn all grades, we made gingerbread homes from cardboard before winter break, and they had a BLAST (some became slightly competitive.. but all in good fun!)\r\n\r\nYour generosity didn't just provide supplies; it provided inspiration, excitement, and hands-on learning that my students will continue to benefit from.
