My kids were so curious about the titles hidden in that GIANT Amazon box. They could not wait to dive in. They were exceptionally surprised to see how many diverse books were included. They're already deep in reading. I have to pry them away from their books to do other \"boring things\" and they run in the door after recess to silent read.\r\nSo many of my reluctant readers are already diving in and it's so heart warming. The new materials you provided have already become part of our daily routines, and I want to share a few moments that truly show their impact.\r\n\r\nThe popsicle sticks have become a surprise favorite. We've been using them for both math and writing—building number models, creating word spaces, and even designing little \"space men\" to create spaces between our words. \r\n\r\nOur new art supplies helped us launch our first art unit of the year. The room went absolutely silent (in the best way!) the moment I brought out the materials—wide eyes, big smiles, and lots of \"Are these really for us?\" They dove right into exploring color and lines in a way we hadn't been able to before.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards, markers, and erasers have become essential to our phonics block. We use them every single day to practice sounds, build words, and check for understanding. The instant feedback has helped students take more ownership of their learning, and I've already seen growth in both confidence and accuracy.\r\n\r\nLastly, the cleaning supplies have helped us keep our classroom fresh and our materials in good condition. Students have taken real pride in caring for their space—wiping down surfaces and keeping shared supplies clean so everyone can use them safely.","fullyFundedDate":1757536174358,"projectUrl":"project/new-class-who-dis/9471006/","projectTitle":"New Class, Who Dis?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arvizu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9750025_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729968795922","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/arvizu204"},{"teacherId":4063672,"projectId":9292977,"letterContent":"I've never seen my students so excited to open Amazon boxes. It was literally like Christmas morning for some. Starting the year off prepared is imperative to setting them up for success.\r\nMy kids enjoyed setting up their classroom binders so much. They took immense pride in organizing tasks that had been kept in a single folder up to that point. They realized how different it was as a transition from primary to upper grades. Some even commented it made them feel grown up!\r\nI have no doubt that your support is guiding them towards not only 5th grade success, but it's paving the way to organization habits in middle school. For that, not only am I thankful, but their future teachers are thankful as well. \r\nThank you for continuing to love on and support my class over the years.","fullyFundedDate":1746567461752,"projectUrl":"project/ready-set-were-prepared-to-go/9292977/","projectTitle":"Ready, Set, We're Prepared to Go!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Singleton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4063672_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1479508652925","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/a-singleton"},{"teacherId":9750025,"projectId":9175802,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has truly blossomed! We've started using the new art supplies, books, and interactive materials, to create a joyful and engaging learning environment. One especially heartwarming moment was during our \"Garden Book\" project. Using the new materials, students created a classroom book that represented different pollinators we helped in our garden. As they shared their favorite pollinator with the class, they learned about why pollinators are important, how to support their environment, and how to teach others about the impact/importance—all while proudly showing off their creativity.\r\n\r\nTheir eyes lit up as we opened each box, and the room was instantly filled with excited chatter. Many couldn't wait to dive into the project. It was a magical moment of pure joy and curiosity—just what we hoped for when dreaming up this project.\r\n\r\nWe're continuing to nurture our little learners through playful, hands-on activities that promote growth, teamwork, and creative thinking- just like our garden. As the class passes the shovel over to the next group of kindergarteners, we'll be using our interactive learning materials to learn about gardening, flowers, and pollinators. Our goal is to build \"learning stations\" where students can explore early math, literacy, and social-emotional skills through games and group work that include a garden station. These stations will encourage collaboration and allow each student to shine in their own way—just like unique flowers in a thriving garden.","fullyFundedDate":1746785840085,"projectUrl":"project/root-for-kinder-a-class-garden-project/9175802/","projectTitle":"Root for Kinder: A Class Garden Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arvizu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9750025_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729968795922","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/arvizu204"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37609","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":379,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"25.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.2,"schoolId":37609,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Franklin Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Franklin Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/franklin-elementary-school/37609"}
