Because of your willingness to give to my students, they now have a brand new bookshelf in our classroom, fully stocked with engaging, musical books. Some of the books they have had the opportunity to love so far have been \"The Other Day I Met A Bear\" and \"Over in the Meadow.\" These books have not only reached the hearts and minds of students at Cole Elementary, but they have also traveled with me to some of my other school sites to reach even more students. \r\n\r\nAs I sing these stories to my classes, students' eyes light up with wonder and curiosity and they begin to identify patterns simply by hearing them and seeing them come to life in colorful, fun illustrations throughout each story. Hearing and seeing students sing along even within a few pages has been so incredible and I can't wait to share even more of these fantastic stories with them!","fullyFundedDate":1728907964192,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-through-music/8754291/","projectTitle":"Literacy Through Music","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mainez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9739523"},{"teacherId":9741344,"projectId":8757638,"letterContent":"I started this year in a new grade, at a new school, in a new district. Before the school year began I had 2 days to inventory what had been left by the previous teacher. There were headphones for the students to use with their computers, but we found out quickly that most of them were already broken or extremely fragile.\r\n\r\nBefore your gift arrived we were down to only 5 pairs of working headphones for a class of 28 (with capacity for 33). Many of the students were well below grade level expectations for reading, so while they were using amazing programs that could analyze exactly what sort of math or English questions they needed to be working on - every one of their computers would be reading aloud each question - creating an environment where it would be difficult for anyone to try to focus on their own work. \r\n\r\nSince receiving your gift, our classroom has been transformed. During computer tasks and tests, students are able to sit next to their peers without the distraction of hearing every passage their classmates is listening to. The students' favorite change is that when they complete their work efficiently, they are able to play educational computer games at the end of the day which reinforce the skills we worked on earlier in the day using paper and pencil.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for transforming our classroom this year from a chaotic din to a quiet learning oasis. I hear the change daily, but I am seeing the change in the students test scores and their self confidence - they are able to take charge of their learning every time they put on a pair of headphones and dial themselves in to do their best, every day.","fullyFundedDate":1728610844650,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-all/8757638/","projectTitle":"Headphones for All","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cotter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9741344"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35176","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":397,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":79,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"26.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":35176,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cole Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cole Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-bernardino-city-unified-school-district/cole-elementary-school/35176"}
