My students were genuinely excited to receive the items, and many were especially happy to know that they can now come into my classroom to grab a snack whenever they feel hungry or if they missed breakfast in the morning. Having access to snacks has made a big difference in helping them stay focused and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nYour support also allowed my students to begin working on their transition surveys, which help them start thinking about their futures and the careers they want to pursue. My seniors were thrilled to receive their portfolios—these have been a great resource as we begin working on their résumés, letters of recommendation, and personal statements.","fullyFundedDate":1755522439638,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-the-future-snacks-support-fo/9577010/","projectTitle":"Fuel for the Future: Snacks & Support for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jasso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8708086"},{"teacherId":8707202,"projectId":9766624,"letterContent":"This project was funded at the perfect time for my students! Our AVID Seniors had just spent 2 days working on their college applications during our whole-school college application campaign. They were exhausted and stressed out. A group of my students came to me to ask if they could lead the Fun Friday activity the next day. They wanted to help their classmates decompress after our two very stressful days. They suggested they bring in board games to get kids off their screens and reconnect with each other, but they had a limited stock. I was so pleased to tell them that we had just gotten our order funded! \r\n\r\nOnce presented with their options, my students quickly formed groups, or teams and grabbed a game to play. It was so refreshing to see these high-achieving high school seniors relax and laugh with one another. \r\n\r\nIt is times like these that really underscore the need to have a social group, a support system, and a team of individuals that you can connect and relax with. \r\nThank you for helping us build that connection with one another at a critical time.","fullyFundedDate":1759667648955,"projectUrl":"project/brains-need-breaks-building-balance-for/9766624/","projectTitle":"Brains Need Breaks! As a new teacher, it can be overwhelming trying to learn a new curriculum, gather supplies, and implement activities in the classroom. Having many of the supplies that we were missing made it so much easier to jump in an start learning. \r\n\r\nOne of our favorite activities from the year was making slime on Halloween! Students spent the first few months of school learning about states of matter, and chemical versus physical properties and reactions. As students worked in their groups to make slime, we discussed how this was a demonstration of a chemical reaction because the ingredients react together to make a new insoluble substance, the slime. It was a class favorite and the students were all smiles as they made a mess with this hands-on learning experience. \r\n\r\nThe students also enjoyed many of our other activities including making models of atoms and making posters. My students loved working with clay to create a tangible representation of an atom to take this abstract idea into something they could manipulate. They also loved getting the opportunity to tap into their creative sides and use all of the markers to make posters for their classmates to learn from and refer to. \r\n\r\nWe have had a very successful year of scientific exploration and learning, and it would not have been possible without your support and generosity.
