When the materials first arrived, students were buzzing with excitement—they couldn't wait to get their hands on the soil, tools, and seeds that would allow them to transform an empty patch of land into a living outdoor classroom. One student exclaimed, \"We get to grow something that really matters!\" and that sense of ownership has stayed with them every step of the way.\r\n\r\nIn the garden, students are combining science, technology, engineering, art, and math in creative ways. They been designed planting layouts and used their notebooks to track growth patterns. Their faces lit up as they realized they would get to build real, functioning devices that connect technology with the science of plant growth. One student shouted, \"We're basically engineers now!\"—and that set the tone for the whole lesson.\r\n\r\nWith your support, my students are using the Micro:Bits to create soil moisture monitors for classroom plants. They've been writing code, wiring sensors, and testing their prototypes to see how well they detect changes in soil moisture. During one memorable moment, a group cheered when their monitor lit up and buzzed just as we watered the plant, it was living proof that their design worked. That spark of accomplishment built confidence that science and coding aren't just ideas in a book, but tools they can master.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping us integrate computer science with life science in a meaningful way. Students are not only learning how to measure and analyze data, but they're also tackling real-world problems like how to keep plants healthy. Our next step is to expand their projects: students will compare different soil types and track how water retention changes, using their monitors to collect data for a shared lab investigation.\r\n\r\nThis project has empowered my students to see themselves as scientists, coders, and problem-solvers. None of this would have been possible without your support.
