I asked for, and received supplies that my students use to support their growth as readers and writers. Though I have now had the supplies in my room for several weeks, the students are still excited about using them. They love using the new whiteboard pens that have an eraser at the end. Some of them especially love the new blue erasers. They get to choose which supplies they use. It is the little things that keep the students motivated to do the hard work of learning and these supplies that you have helped to purchase are sparking joy and motivation in my students daily. \r\n\r\nOne big skill the students are working on is reading fluency. I have been using the sentence strips to \"chop up\" the sentences for the students to \"scoop\" and read. My readers have really enjoyed this activity as some of the students get to hold the sentences while the others students tell me where to cut it up. As I break up the sentence, I need more and more students to hold the parts and they ALL want to participate! Again, it is the little things that help us keep the motivation high! I am so grateful for your generosity and for the impact you have made on my first graders.\r\n\r\nWhen the whiteboard table arrived, my students were beyond excited. They crowded around it, asking if they could try it right away. The first thing they did was write their names, draw pictures, and start solving math problems together. It was such a happy moment to see their excitement and curiosity.\r\nWe now use the table every day during reading, writing, and math. Students practice building words, writing sentences, and solving addition and subtraction problems directly on the table. During small groups, students work together to explain their thinking, draw models, and share ideas. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students encourage each other while solving a math problem and proudly showing their work.\r\n\r\nThe table has made learning more hands on and collaborative. Students who are usually quiet feel more confident sharing their ideas. Students who need extra support feel safe trying again because they can easily erase and fix their work. It has truly changed the way students interact with learning.\r\nNext, students will continue using the table during guided reading, word work, and math centers. They will use it to plan writing, practice new strategies, and work together to solve challenges. The table has already become one of the most loved spaces in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and supporting our classroom. Your kindness is felt every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1760728662510,"projectUrl":"project/a-table-that-turns-learning-into-fun/9667856/","projectTitle":"A Table That Turns Learning Into Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bjurstrom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8795422_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756654922591","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8795422"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32874","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":447,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"17.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.9,"schoolId":32874,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Theodore Judah Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Theodore Judah Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/theodore-judah-elementary-school/32874"}
