As you can see from the pictures, these portfolios double up as a work surface. We paint consistently on thick cardstock and then attach the paper to the portfolios with painter's tape. This gives the paper a rigid structure so we can place them on the easels to paint. At the end of the painting process, students peel off the tape and store the work inside the portfolio. This keeps things neat and also avoids damage. For years we mixed paints directly on the table tops, that resulted in wear and scuffing to our tables. The plexiglass surface is a huge improvement since it is smoother and can be taken directly to the sink for cleaning. Most professional artists use glass or plastic as a palette; the plexiglass is a nice alternative since it will not shatter. Acrylic paint tends to stick too easily on plastic palettes and using paper can be wasteful. The plexiglass palettes are attached to the table using L brackets, which allow for the palettes to slide off for cleaning.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1733177045278,"projectUrl":"project/palettes-for-hardworking-student-artists/8931508/","projectTitle":"Palettes for Hardworking Student Artists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8543034_orig.jpg?crop=775,775,x120,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747771096952","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8543034"},{"teacherId":8543034,"projectId":8852971,"letterContent":"Now that we are in AP prep mode, the portfolio folders are even more critical. This is the perfect way for students to store their life drawings. Before, drawings were shoved in a drawer or rolled in a tube. Currently each upper level art student has their own portfolio. The goal is to add one life drawing per week to the portfolio so that the students can track their progress as well as have a safe storage space for their artwork. We work mostly in graphite and charcoal so having the folders prevents drawings from rubbing off onto neighboring artworks. The portfolios are well made and will be used for years.","fullyFundedDate":1730938971321,"projectUrl":"project/delicate-life-drawings-in-need-of-portfo/8852971/","projectTitle":"Delicate Life Drawings in Need of Portfolios for Safekeeping","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8543034_orig.jpg?crop=775,775,x120,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747771096952","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8543034"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63250","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2005,"numTeachers":86,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"23.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.7,"schoolId":63250,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Granite Bay High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Granite Bay High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/roseville-joint-union-hsd/granite-bay-high-school/63250"}
