We introduced the pasta rollers and cutters, and students worked in small groups to create fresh fettuccine from scratch. They were able to compare the texture and elasticity of their dough at different stages, gaining hands-on experience that simply wasn't possible before. One stand-out moment was when a group of students realized their dough was too dry, adjusted it, and proudly watched it glide smoothly through the roller.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions the first day the equipment arrived were priceless. Many students were surprised that we would be making \"real restaurant-style pasta,\" and several commented that it felt like they were on a cooking show. The excitement helped boost engagement immediately; even students who are usually hesitant jumped in enthusiastically to guide the pasta sheets, and experiment with different cutter attachments. The new tools brought an element of professionalism to the classroom that elevated the entire learning experience.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will be using the pasta machines as part of a broader project on recipe development and regional cuisine. They will research a pasta dish from a specific culture or region, design their own variation, and prepare it using the equipment donors helped provide. This next step gives them the opportunity to combine creativity, research, and hands-on culinary skills. Thanks to your generosity and these new resources, my students are building confidence in the kitchen and gaining real-world cooking experience that will stay with them long after this class ends.","fullyFundedDate":1757650191772,"projectUrl":"project/pasta-la-vista-store-bought/9552137/","projectTitle":"Pasta la Vista, Store-Bought!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lister","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9582075"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_128547","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":173,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":97.9,"schoolId":128547,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Spring Lake Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Spring Lake Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/rincon-valley-union-school-district/rincon-valley-charter-school-sequoia/128547"}
