They immediately gravitated toward the bright colors and unique shapes, eager to explore each item. Many of them were especially fascinated by the liquid squares, carefully stepping on them to watch the colors shift beneath their feet. The balance beam and stepping stones quickly became favorites, and students began challenging themselves to cross without \"falling into the lava,\" turning it into a fun and imaginative group activity. Their laughter and determination showed just how engaging these resources are for their development.\r\n\r\nWe are now incorporating these materials into daily movement activities and structured gross motor lessons. For example, we recently set up an obstacle course using the tunnels, balance beam, and wobble board, which encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance. The scarves have also been a wonderful addition for dance and rhythm activities, helping students strengthen coordination while expressing themselves creatively. Moving forward, we plan to expand on these activities by introducing new challenges with the equipment, encouraging students to build confidence, balance, and motor planning skills. These materials are already making a huge difference in our classroom, and my students look forward to using them each day.","fullyFundedDate":1746786223203,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-gross-motor-skills-for-active/9127068/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Gross Motor Skills for Active Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holiman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9903369_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737351098524","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9903369"},{"teacherId":9903369,"projectId":9127116,"letterContent":"The beautiful, colorful rug we received has quickly become the heart of our classroom. It's more than just a cozy spaceāit's a vibrant learning zone where students gather each day for lessons, read-alouds, group discussions, and interactive activities. One memorable moment was during a story time session when students naturally formed a circle on the rug, fully engaged and eager to share their thoughts. The rug has helped create a warm, inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and connecting with their peers. It has truly transformed the dynamic of our classroom, making it feel more like a community.\r\n\r\nWhen the rug first arrived, the students were absolutely overjoyed. Their faces lit up as soon as they saw the bright colors, and they immediately asked if they could sit and play on it. Some even laid down just to feel how soft and inviting it was. It was heartwarming to see how something so simple could bring so much excitement and joy. Looking ahead, the rug will continue to play a central role in our learning routines. We're currently beginning a unit on storytelling and role-playing, and the rug will be the stage where students act out scenes, collaborate on skits, and build confidence in their speaking skills. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we now have a space that encourages creativity, comfort, and connection every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1746786279417,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-cozy-classroom-for-learning/9127116/","projectTitle":"Creating a Cozy Classroom: For Learning & Comfort","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holiman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9903369_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737351098524","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9903369"},{"teacherId":9903369,"projectId":9072523,"letterContent":"We've been putting our new sensory resources to great use, and they have quickly become a favorite part of our daily routine! The sensory bins, textured toys, and fidget tools are now integrated into our calming corner, as well as our morning centers. One project we recently completed using the materials was a \"Sensory Hunt,\" where students used kinetic sand, playdough, and sensory beads to compare and describe how things feel. They used vocabulary like \"bumpy,\" \"soft,\" and \"squishy,\" building both sensory awareness and early language skills. These hands-on experiences are helping students develop focus, self-regulation, and fine motor control in a playful and engaging way.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new sensory tools, their faces lit up with excitement! Many ran over to explore, and I saw immediate curiosity and joy as they squished the play foam or ran their fingers through the water beads. It was heartwarming to watch even our quieter students become more expressive and confident as they interacted with the materials. Looking ahead, we're beginning a unit on \"All About Me,\" and students will use sensory materials to create self-portraits with different textures, exploring how we are alike and different. These tools continue to inspire meaningful learning, and we're so grateful to our donors for making it all possible!","fullyFundedDate":1739368341424,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-learning-through-sensory-play/9072523/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Learning Through Sensory Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holiman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9903369_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737351098524","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9903369"},{"teacherId":8982868,"projectId":8683431,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the fantastic new books for the Kingsbury library! These books are consistently checked out, indicating that students are not only enjoying them but also using them to take quizzes that assess their understanding and reading comprehension.\r\nSeveral students have discovered new favorites expressing particular enthusiasm for the National Geographic books about pandas and rocks and minerals. Another student mentioned enjoying the art styles in \"Crown\" and \"Deshawn Days\".\r\nOur library needed an infusion of new non-fiction books and literature representing diverse cultures, and these donated books help to meet these important needs. Infusing the library with more non-fiction and diverse cultural representation is so important for fostering a love of reading and learning.
