Your generous gift truly brought our vision to life and has made a meaningful impact on our third-grade classroom at Park Village Elementary.\r\n\r\nHow We're Using the New Resources\r\n\r\nYour contribution enabled us to transform our outdoor learning space into a vibrant, hands-on hub for exploration and creativity. With the new tablet, students are capturing photos of plants and documenting their growth through videos and observations. The gardening tools, soil, pots, and hydroponic kit have turned our outdoor area into a flourishing mini-garden, where students care for seedlings, learn about plant life cycles, and witness nature's wonders firsthand.\r\n\r\nWe've also used the butterfly metamorphosis kit to observe each stage of the caterpillar-to-butterfly transformation right in our classroom garden, generating awe, curiosity, and nurturing behaviors. Art supplies—like collage pots, markers, and modeling clay—have empowered students to creatively express their scientific observations, turning their perception of nature into colorful projects.\r\n\r\nA Memorable Classroom Moment\r\n\r\nOne standout moment happened just last week: A small group gathered around the hydroponic system as tiny sprouts emerged from moist sponges. The students, excited and wide-eyed, bounced up and down and began whispering, \"Look! They're growing!\" One whispered, \"It's like a secret garden!\" That moment captured their wonder, unity, and pride in tending something so alive—and all fueled by your support.\r\n\r\nTheir Reactions When They First Saw the Materials\r\n\r\nOn \"reveal day,\" I wheeled the garden cart out and unpacked the supplies. As students caught sight of the tablet, tools, and art materials, their reactions were instantaneous—gasps, cheers, and that unmistakable sparkle of curiosity. Eyes lit up, hands waved, and every child leaned in, eager to touch, explore, and ask questions. It felt like they knew—this space would be different now; this would be their space for learning in a new, alive way.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for Us\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, the journey continues in exciting ways:\r\n\r\nNature Journals & Digital Portfolios: Students will document their observations—changes in plant growth, insect visitors, weather effects—using both the tablet and their creative journal entries, building a long-term portfolio of their outdoor investigations.\r\n\r\nSTEM Meets Art Projects: Using the collage pots and modeling clay, students will design their own habitat displays—sculpting insects, drawing plant anatomy, combining science and creativity to solidify their understanding.\r\n\r\nData & Reflection Sharing: We'll analyze growth data (like plant height, germination rates, weather patterns), compare findings as a class, and reflect on what helps a garden thrive.\r\n\r\nCulminating Outdoor Exhibit: Later this fall, we'll host an \"Outdoor Learning Showcase\" for families and friends—students will walk visitors through their projects, share what they've learned, exhibit artwork, and even give guided tours of the garden's progress.\r\n\r\nIn Closing...\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students more than just materials—you've given them wonder, ownership, and the chance to learn actively and creatively. We're already seeing curiosity grow just as vibrantly as the seeds in our garden.","fullyFundedDate":1746786175359,"projectUrl":"project/growing-minds-outdoor-learning-in-full/9329516/","projectTitle":"Growing Minds: Outdoor Learning in Full Bloom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. King","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9551602_orig.png?crop=337,337,x139,y78&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718481104861","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9551602"},{"teacherId":9551602,"projectId":8413902,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are now hands-on gardeners, scientists, and caretakers of our very own class garden! When the materials arrived, the excitement was contagious—students eagerly unboxed soil, seeds, and gardening tools, immediately brainstorming what we could grow and how to care for our plants.\r\n\r\nWe started by researching native San Diego plants, connecting science and informational writing standards to real-world learning. Each student selected a plant to study, wrote about its growth cycle, and made predictions about how it would thrive in our environment. Now, they take turns watering, observing changes, and documenting their findings in garden journals. One unforgettable moment was when we spotted the first sprouts—students cheered, and one even said, \"This is like magic, but it's science!\"\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve expanding our learning by studying pollinators and how they help our plants grow. We'll also incorporate math by measuring growth and tracking patterns over time. Eventually, we hope to create a small outdoor learning space where students can reflect, write, and observe nature up close.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible! Your support has transformed our classroom into an interactive, living lab, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1733157493977,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-innovations-equipping-a-new/8413902/","projectTitle":"First-Year Innovations: Equipping a New Classroom Teacher","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. King","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9551602_orig.png?crop=337,337,x139,y78&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718481104861","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9551602"},{"teacherId":9188892,"projectId":8780201,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation.
