Building a classroom library takes time, and your support has helped me add new and updated titles that truly interest my students. Thanks to your generosity, I have been able to grow our library and create a space where students are excited to read. I am incredibly grateful for your kindness and the positive impact you have made in our classroom.\r\n The new texts have been helping us teach many important reading skills in engaging and meaningful ways. Through books like Percy Jackson, students have been learning to identify character traits and analyze character development, understand plot structure, and recognize literary devices such as foreshadowing, symbolism, and theme. They have been practicing making predictions, drawing inferences, and supporting their answers with evidence from the text, and they continue to strengthen these skills through independent reading and class discussions. \r\n Reading in our classroom is active, engaging, and collaborative. We often read together as a whole group, taking turns or listening to one another read aloud, pausing throughout the chapter to discuss important events, clarify vocabulary, and share predictions. Students participate in partner and small group discussions where they answer questions, share their thinking, and support their ideas with evidence from the text. These conversations deepen comprehension and encourage students to think critically about what they are reading. Students also read independently several times a week, both in class and at home. On Fridays, we have a special silent reading time where we turn off the lights, play soft music, and display a moving campfire on the board to create a cozy atmosphere. Students can even use flashlights while they read, which makes the experience fun and memorable.\r\n Through the novel study of Percy Jackson, many students have been very excited about the new books. Many of the boys have eagerly continued the series, signing up to check out the next books and sharing their favorite characters and moments. Several girls have also shown excitement, recommending books to friends and talking about the stories together. Even students who were once hesitant readers have become more confident, asking for the next book and joining in class discussions.
