They really like learning about historical events in a narrative setting. It is so wonderful to see the excitement on students' faces when they receive their very own copy of the novel we are reading in class. This book is a sequel to our first novel we read this year which made the kids even more excited to begin reading. They absolutely love the story, and are even continuing their conversations about the book outside of the classroom and on the playground. I love getting to witness their excitement!\r\n\r\nWith our books, students are able to follow along with me as I read to them in class. After we read, we have in depth discussions about the chapters, and students get to look back in their books to reference different parts of the story. Students collaborate daily by answering RACE questions about the novel. They get to discuss with their peers the answers to given questions, use their books to find evidence, and explain how their evidence supports their answers. \r\n\r\nStudents are also learning all about figurative language with their copy of the novel. Students have taken notes on the different types of figurative language and are given opportunities to spot figurative language being used in the novel. In my classroom, students are rewarded with our school's PBIS pride cards if they spot figurative language in the book. Because of this students are extremely engaged as we read together in class!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your wonderful donation and support. Traditional seating arrangements often limit students' ability to move, collaborate, and adapt to different learning tasks. Flexible seating, such as saucer chairs, wobble stools, hightop desks and cushions, have provided students with a choice in how and where they work, promoting comfort and focus. When students are physically comfortable, they ate better able to concentrate and engage with their lessons, which had led to improved academic performance and greater enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nBeyond individual benefits, flexible seating encourages collaboration and social interaction. With versatile seating arrangements, students in my class can easily work together in groups, share ideas, and participate in discussions. This has fostered a sense of community within the classroom and helped students develop essential skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Additionally, this flexible seating has accommodated diverse learning styles and needs, providing options for students who have difficulty sitting still or focusing for extended periods. It has created an inclusive environment where all students have felt supported and valued. \r\n\r\nOur classroom is so much warmer because of your generous donations.","fullyFundedDate":1725301321206,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-fifth-graders/8725422/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Fifth Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9720555_orig.jpg?crop=1067,1067,x0,y266&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725051808169","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720555"},{"teacherId":8516890,"projectId":8819317,"letterContent":"On behalf of the entire fifth-grade class, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredibly generous donation that allowed us to purchase this class set of novels.
