It has made a huge difference in my student's learning. Each day, when students come into my class they get the binder that has been provided by you. In that binder they have a whiteboard marker, a pencil and a nine card organizer. They have all of these supplies because of your generous donations. I would like to tell you about how these supplies have made a difference. \r\n First, let me tell you about a student who really struggles with school. Many days he does not make it to class, on the days he does make it he usually comes with only the clothes on his back. He brings no supplies, no backpack, nothing. In many of his classes, the fact that he does not have supplies greatly impacts his ability to learn. However, in my class, he has everything he needs as soon as he comes in the door. This is because of you and your efforts. We are working on codeing in STEM class currently. Just today, he got all caught up on his work and completed the videogame we have been programming. He was able to do this because he opened his binder and had the paper with the information he neeed on it. If he did not have those supplies, he would not have had easy access to the information he needed and it would have gotten in the way of his learning and the project he was working on.\r\n These supplies have also helped every one of my students be motivated and engaged in my class. I gamify my class, this means that I use game elements in my classroom structure. Two of the elements I use are experience points and item cards. The experience points are point cards that students collect for a weekly compititon. The items cards are privledges in the class. Item cards and experience points are highly motivating to students. I have very good engagement in my classes because of these strategies. The nine card organizers that students keep their item and experience point cards in were provided by your generous donations. These systems of student engagement would not be possible without the supplies you generously funded. Thank you so much! \r\n I cannot overstated the impact your donations have made. You have enabled me to keep my students resourced and motivated to learn. We used the wood to laser cut and build automatons. Automatons are mechanism which mimic the movements of living creatures. Each student made a drawing of a creature which they made to move through the use of gears or cams. Through the course of this project we explored how different mechanisms produce movement. We explored rotational movement generated by gears and linear movement produced by the use of cams. Each student was able to make thier own model that used gears, cams or both out of the wood provided by your generous donations. Further, students then had a model which they could take home and show to their families. These models are durable and are a nice way for students to share their learning.
