The colorful carpet markers have been a game-changer for lining up in a safe and organized fashion. One special moment was during our first social-emotional journaling session. Each student opened their brand-new notebook and eagerly began writing about their goals for the year. Having their own dedicated space for reflection has made them more excited to share their thoughts and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate! When students saw the tri-fold writing folders, they couldn't wait to explore all the sections and asked, \"Can we start writing today?\" They were equally thrilled to see extra copies of The One and Only Ivan and The One and Only Bob. Several students hugged the books, while others flipped through the pages with huge smiles, already predicting which one they wanted to read first.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve diving deeper into our first whole-class novel of the year, The One and Only Ivan. With enough copies for everyone, we'll be able to read together, annotate, and hold rich discussions without students having to share or wait for their turn. Later in the year, we'll connect it to The One and Only Bob for a compare-and-contrast activity. At the same time, students will continue building strong writing habits by using their folders to draft, revise, and publish stories. Thanks to these resources, they're equipped to stay organized, engaged, and motivated throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1753843623157,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-and-organization/9418293/","projectTitle":"Literacy and Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7634106_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y138&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1606954028847","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrssewell92240"},{"teacherId":7634106,"projectId":9309176,"letterContent":"Thanks to the DonorsChoose community, my students had the chance to express their creativity through a special DIY Mother's Day gift tradition while also preparing for a strong start to 4th grade! This project provided an incredible boost to our classroom culture by making each week something to look forward to. From Takis and Rice Krispies Treats to lollipops, sour candies, and Fruit Roll-Ups, the variety kept the students motivated and excited to earn their rewards.\r\n\r\nIn both my homeroom and ELD classes, I hold my students to extremely high expectations. The Friday treat box became a powerful incentive that encouraged students to stay focused, demonstrate positive behavior, and reach academic goals. It reinforced the value of hard work and responsibility while creating joyful moments at the end of each week.\r\n\r\nThis support also helped ease the financial burden of regularly supplying classroom incentives out-of-pocket. With the rising cost of snacks and treats, your contribution made a real difference not only in student morale but also in sustaining a meaningful reward system that celebrates student success in a fun and memorable way.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping me spoil them for their dedication.
