They have wanted this class for over a year, but we only had cardboard to work with for the board games. We began the class by playing various types of board games, such as Chess, Prime Climb, Candyland, Sorry, etc. Then students decided what type of game they wanted to create. Would it be a game of chance, strategy, or a combination of both? Would it have a trendy theme or would it be a learning game for younger students? \r\n\r\nMy role in the work was to help them brainstorm and type up the rules so that anyone could open up the box and play successfully. This included how many players, recommended ages, how to start and set it up, how to win, how to play (what happens during a turn), and rules of the game (including specific or special rules).\r\n\r\nSome students in the Game Design Seminar chose to work with a partner, and others created their own game. The nine-week seminar ended this week, and it is incredible to see what these artists created. We have Feline Fights, Bear Trap, K Pop Demon Hunters the Board Game, Half World, Imagine Quest, to name a few. This level of game design would not have been possible without your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1755608558252,"projectUrl":"project/board-game-creation-with-an-academic-len/9507021/","projectTitle":"Board Game Creation with an Academic Lens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-gill"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70758","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":408,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":70,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"29.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":70758,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Watsonville Charter School of the Arts on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Watsonville Charter School of the Arts","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/pajaro-valley-unified-school-district/watsonville-charter-school-arts/70758"}
