Our little school is right next to the Pacific Ocean, and our class of 19 curious, energetic 4 and 5-year-olds absolutely love story time and books. Thanks to you, each of them now has their very own copy of Jabari Jumps to take home and enjoy.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is a joyful, creative place where learning grows out of play and discovery. Books are a big part of how we explore the world together. Jabari Jumps has been the children's favorite book this year. We've been talking about bravery, trying new things, and sharing stories about times we've felt nervous or proud. It's been amazing to see how much the kids connect with Jabari's story, especially as they head into the summer and transition to a new grade level and teacher.\r\n\r\nThe students love to act out climbing the diving board, taking a deep breath, jumping, and splashing into the water. I got to write a personalized note to each student inside their book about their bravery and growth and learning this year.","fullyFundedDate":1746733364689,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-kindergarteners-jump-into-first/9281432/","projectTitle":"Help My Kindergarteners Jump into First Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. The technology began being implemented as a part of our engineering class to allow students a deeper understanding of 3-D printing as well as a more hands-on experience that allows them to create a more diverse range of products. \r\n Students took quickly to this tool to explore with it, but what surprised me is that students who did not enjoy the engineering unit prior, are now far more engaged and participatory. I assume this is because the CAD aspect of the unit has now been made more accessible and enjoyable for them, and I am incredibly grateful for your support in this through providing us with the print pens.\r\n I have seen that these can be tools that crosscut across units, though, as we then also implemented them in math in the coordinate plane unit and even went as far as finding them useful for students to create simple fixes for things around the classroom. A simple example being the creation of desk organizers.\r\n It is these small exposures to learning experiences that are empowering students to be problem solvers in the classroom and expanding that to our community. These pens deepen learning and allow for more in depth conversations across content about how to solve problems as a new option, as well as content to visualize situations more. \r\n The most exciting aspect is the freedom to build to their limits, as the doodle pens have a website that has templates, but students enjoy pushing the boundary to see what they can make and showing off their creations. It is because of you that we can do this.
