I felt incredibly lucky, blessed and fortunate to share this with my students. I was so excited to teach my class, using the book, Boy in the Stripped Pajamas as we learn about the Holocaust. I think we started reading the book the week we received the book. \r\nWe are half way through the story and my students ask if we will be reading as they walk through the door to class. I have all of the comprehension materials that go with the book, so we are digging in deep and learning new vocabulary, point of view, comprehension and even grammar that goes along with this powerful tale. It really helps make learning fun and interesting when you have the right materials and we have those because of YOU!\r\nThank you so much and thank you on behalf of my sweet students.","fullyFundedDate":1733387348862,"projectUrl":"project/lets-read/8971350/","projectTitle":"Let’s Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clark","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9011400_orig.jpg?crop=768,768,x81,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701197153685","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9011400"},{"teacherId":9754115,"projectId":9002578,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generous donation! It allowed my me to have a class set of the book \"Night\" by Elie Wiesel. Having our own class set is truly special. Usually, I would have to borrow a class set from our school library. While our library is a great resource, the \"Night\" books that are available to check out have been, shall I say, well-loved. Some of the books have writing on the pages. Some of them have pages falling out. Some of them have torn covers. Needless to say, it is quite a treat to have our own set. Having a set for just our class, means I am able to monitor how the students care for them. They will stay in good condition for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe book itself is a treasure and the perfect way to teach about the Holocaust which is an 8th grade standard. This book not only allows me to teach about the Holocaust, but Elie Wiesel's first person perspective gives the students the perspective of how it affected the people. This is something that I could never teach on my own. It is so incredibly important for our young generation to understand that something like this can NEVER happen again. \r\n\r\nAs an English teacher, there are so many ways to use this book. It can be used to teach about literature, characterization, symbolism, analysis, and so much more. Using the earbuds your donation allowed us to buy, students have the powerful opportunity to listen to the author himself. I am positive that this will be one of the stories my students will remember reading well into adulthood.","fullyFundedDate":1734389565053,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-the-magic-of-reading/9002578/","projectTitle":"Learning Through the Magic of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bates","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9754115_orig.jpg?crop=240,240,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726587235008","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9754115"},{"teacherId":9767087,"projectId":8805380,"letterContent":"Our collaboration stations are in full effect! Students are using the white boards in small peer-led groups twice weekly. They are used during our tutorial sessions in the AVID classroom. Students are able to get help from peers during these sessions for all of their content classes. Students have expressed to me that because the boards fit on their desks, they feel more confident to speak in front of the group, rather than having to use the large white boards that the whole class can see. They also love the idea of using them during group presentations; this way they can present to a smaller group rather than the whole class. \r\n\r\nWhen the white boards were first delivered, the students were so excited to open the boxes. Once the boxes were opened and the contents were pulled out, we quickly realized these might be harder to put together than we thought. So, I decided to make it a competition to see which group could put it together the fastest. We had a blast and a lot of laughter figuring it out, which of course promotes teamwork and communication (something that has been a struggle post-covid). \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1727102483550,"projectUrl":"project/collaboration-stations/8805380/","projectTitle":"Collaboration Stations!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9767087"},{"teacherId":9754115,"projectId":8793534,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your assistance in purchasing the necessary supplies needed to complete our \"spreading positivity\" project! We used your donations to buy all the supplies needed to color a classroom mural that says \"Spread Good Vibes.\" Not only did it help to spread good vibes in the classroom, it will continue to spread good vibes in our front office where the poster now hangs. In order to finish the mural, students were able to color the mural when all their work was completed, so this encouraged students to stay on task. When the poster was finished, we hung it in the front office for all to see. Those who contributed to the coloring of the mural love to see their work in the front office. The office staff enjoys having the poster to brighten up the place. When parents and visitors come in to the office, they can't help feeling the \"good vibe\" at out school. And your generous donations bought enough supplies to make another positive poster!
