Right away, I began to announce and display the new additions to my students. It's something special to let the students know that they are the first to open and read them. \r\n\r\nI tried to curate these materials to promote literacy for some of my students that have lower reading levels. These text have introduced additional, fun dimensions to reading. With additional books, and when the students are reading, our work together has gotten little quieter--and usually thats a good. They smile and share what they are a reading. Our books all have AR tests so they really enjoy scoring well on these and collecting AR points\r\n\r\nThere has also been opportunities to read together, often out loud, and even though the students are a little older, they follow like as if they were picture books. It reminds me of the library reading I use to do as kid.","fullyFundedDate":1746786012000,"projectUrl":"project/the-cosmic-library/9179149/","projectTitle":"The Cosmic Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Navarro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9852532_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y39&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733863943409","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9852532"},{"teacherId":3143277,"projectId":9003580,"letterContent":"This project has made life so much easier and faster for the kids and myself. Everyday we would struggle with trying to find a sharpened pencil. We also struggled if and when the pencil broke because we didn't have a working pencil sharpener. We used the small pencil sharpener that broke after using it a few times. Now we have tons of sharpened pencils ready to go daily as well as sturdy working pencil sharpeners that take a few seconds to sharpen our pencils. This was a life saver for our classroom. The students also love the writing folders and long paper. It helps keep all their writing organized whereas before it was crumbled in their desk or lost. The rolling cart makes it so easy to move from one place to another with all the supplies. My students ask every recess and lunch if they can take out the art supplies and make something. I love watching them work hard, accomplishing a task and then seeing the huge smile on their face when they get a sticker, prize, or positive note. They don't even care which incentative they receive they are just happy. Just like adults we love to do well, get recognized for working hard and receive some type of positive reward. My students also love it when they lose a tooth and get the colorful tooth holder to put their tooth in. In the past they would lose their tooth by the time they got home. This helps with responsibility because they make sure to take care of the tooth holder.
