Through your generous donation, we were able to purchase 3 new tricycles for our playground. Our old ones were broken and very difficult to ride. The new ones are a beautiful bright orange color, easy to pedal, and best of all, fast!\r\nThe kindergarteners love to bike during their outdoor play time. Pedaling and steering are important gross motor skills that take practice. They also need to develop social skills like waiting in line, taking turns, sharing, following directions, and problem solving. The tricycles give the students the opportunity to practice all of these skills on a daily basis. We also find that our students who have energy to spare find the trikes to be a great outlet for this. \r\nWe have a large special education population at our school. These students especially benefit from the new bikes. Many of them find the bikes help them regulate their emotions when they are overly stimulated. The new backpack cubbies have made an incredible difference in our classroom. With these organized spaces, our students now have a clear, consistent place to store their belongings, which has greatly improved our morning routines and transitions. We use the cubbies every day as part of our arrival procedure, and the children are learning independence by hanging up their backpacks and putting their items away all on their own.\r\n\r\nOne special moment happened during the first morning the cubbies were set up. As the students walked in, their faces lit up. Several ran over to find their names or picture labels, proudly announcing, \"This is mine!\" Many of our students benefit from strong visual supports, so having their own designated space immediately helped them understand where their things go. That sense of ownership was so heartwarming to watch.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, we are now able to build stronger routines around self-help skills, responsibility, and organization. Our next steps include incorporating the cubbies into lessons on independence and sequencing—for example, teaching students the step-by-step process for arriving at school, packing up for home, and caring for their personal items. These are foundational life skills, and the cubbies make them accessible for every learner in our class.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide furniture—it created structure, confidence, and joyful moments of independence for our students. The humor and imagination of Dory kept students engaged, while the shared experience of reading together built community and confidence.\r\n\r\nThrough this novel study, students practiced essential reading skills such as making predictions, identifying character traits, and retelling important events.
