I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to our classroom project. Your support has truly transformed our sewing lab and has had a profound impact on both the environment and the learning experiences of my students.\r\n\r\nWith the new materials you provided, our sewing lab is now much more complete and user-friendly. One of the most significant improvements has been the addition of the changing tent. No longer do students need to leave the room and head to the bathroom to try on garments – they now have a private, convenient space right in the lab. This small change has made a huge difference in the workflow and overall experience of the students. They can now seamlessly move between designing, sewing, and fitting their creations without unnecessary delays.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students have really enjoyed using the new shop vacuum to keep the lab tidy. It's a tool that keeps the space neat and safe, and it's been especially appreciated during our busier project days. The new waste bins for sorting fabric scraps have also encouraged students to be more mindful of waste, making it easier for them to dispose of materials in an organized way.\r\n\r\n\r\nHowever, the most impactful resource by far has been the skin-colored pencils. These pencils have truly brought our fashion illustrations to life. For my students of color, having the ability to draw accurate skin tones and represent themselves in their designs has been deeply meaningful. It's amazing to watch them engage with their work in a more personal and authentic way. The pencils allow them to see themselves reflected in the creative process, which I believe fosters both confidence and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our current fashion design projects, these resources will be crucial in helping my students move forward. They are now able to work more efficiently and thoughtfully, whether they're designing, illustrating, or organizing their materials. The next steps in their learning journey will include [mention a specific upcoming project or goal, such as creating a full garment, presenting their designs, etc.]. With these new tools, I'm confident they will not only develop their technical skills but also deepen their understanding of the broader concepts of fashion design.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you so much for your generosity. The impact of your donation extends far beyond just the materials you've provided; it has given my students the opportunity to express themselves fully and to see their ideas come to life in ways that weren't possible before. We are excited to continue this journey and look forward to sharing more of our progress with you.","fullyFundedDate":1745496310669,"projectUrl":"project/outfitting-a-sewing-lab/9260732/","projectTitle":"Outfitting a Sewing Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melni","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8315582_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y162&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690950890999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8315582"},{"teacherId":9602352,"projectId":9284765,"letterContent":"Thank you for contributing in making our math class a more engaging experience. My students researched and learn about the impact that fast fashion is having on our environment. We decided to create projects with recycle or donated fabrics. I also bought different things at thrift stores. I know you will be impressed with the finished pieces. All the materials provided set me up to be ready when the first day of school came (which happened so quickly) and for students to have materials they needed starting from day 1 (binders, dividers, paper) and everyday moving forward. \r\n\r\nDuring the first week, students explored how to make a model of a mystery box (courtesy of San Francisco State University) and connecting how scientists have to use the information they have to make models (such as the atom). I was able to utilize the food coloring provided to do this activity. \r\n\r\nWe also conducted a two labs in the first few weeks. The first one was about learning about chemical reactions so they ran the elephant toothpaste reaction with the soap, yeast, and hydrogen peroxide. This was our very first lab and it was only possible due to your donations to provide us with the necessary materials for students to get excited and start asking questions about why that happened. Our second lab was in our second unit, about the atom and is very well known in the chemistry community, the electron flame test. Students used the popsicle sticks to test different chemicals in the flame and watch the color change. Student really enjoyed this lab and still talk about it to this day! \r\n\r\nI could go on and on about the impacts of this project in our classroom. Your support helped us purchase essential materials that will furnish and bring to life a space that our students both need and deserve.\r\nThis project has been in development for over a year, and while we initially envisioned a smaller space, the enthusiasm and buy-in from students, staff, and the broader school community quickly grew. Because of that momentum, we're now moving into a larger space that can better serve our students—one that truly reflects the importance of wellness on our campus. The materials you've helped fund are a crucial part of turning this vision into a reality.\r\nUntil now, our campus had no dedicated wellness space. Students didn't have anywhere to decompress, take a breath, or connect with support. When they heard we were creating the Wellness Center and had a sneak peek of the materials we'll be using, they were excited. They're genuinely happy to know that this is a space for them—designed with them in mind.\r\nEven though the center isn't fully open yet, the impact is already being felt. Students are talking about it, looking forward to it, and staff are just as excited. There's a noticeable shift in our school culture—a sense of care and intentionality that is growing with this project.\r\nAnd the best news? Now that we have a designated space and materials, we've been approved for full-time staffing. Starting next school year, the Wellness Center will be open five days a week to provide consistent, accessible support for our students.\r\nThank you again for being a part of something so meaningful. You're helping us create a lasting resource that will support student wellness for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1734452195595,"projectUrl":"project/wellness-center/8899064/","projectTitle":"Wellness Center","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ochoa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9602352_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723935519759","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9602352"},{"teacherId":8315582,"projectId":8348205,"letterContent":"My greatest appreciate your generosity and patience with my update! My students are working away in the sewing lab and making wonderful progress with their sewing skills. It's very difficult for me to make purchases through my school and last year I wasn't able to procure extra sewing needles. I was very nervous about what could happen if a bobbin case went missing because there were no back ups. Now I am able to operate the sewing last with ease, knowing that I have back up needles and bobbin cases! \r\n\r\nWith the new presser feet, students are able to choose more challenging projects, such as clothing with zippers. Students couldn't believe how many presser feet options there are. It was a good learning moment for them. \r\n\r\nEach sewing machine now has a magnetic pin cushion in the tool drawer. There are far less pins left on the machine desk or on the floors.
