The Pop It was an instant hit, providing a calming sensory outlet that turned multiplication practice into a game they couldn't wait to play.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using these resources to bridge the gap between \"counting\" and \"calculating.\" In a recent lesson, the money and fraction magnets became the stars of the show; instead of struggling to visualize a word problem, my students moved the magnets across the board to physically build and solve equations. One of my favorite moments was watching a student use the scented dough to model repeated addition; as they smelled the dough and molded it into groups, you could see the \"aha!\" moment on their face as they realized they were actually doing multiplication. These tools have removed the frustration that usually comes with math, replacing it with a sense of pride and mastery.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next step is to use these tools to build independent fluency. We are currently working on a project where students use the glue sticks and manipulatives to create their own \"Math Success Folders\" to keep at their desks. Many of them had never seen a microscope in person, and their excitement was a beautiful reminder of how much they value having high-quality tools that are \"just for them.\" They took great pride in carefully unboxing the prepared slides, treating them with a level of respect and curiosity that shows how much this investment means to their self-esteem and education. \r\n\r\nOur next steps involved becoming real-world biologists and ecologists as we followed the Butterfly Pavilion project from start to finish.
