When the materials first arrived, the excitement was palpable; my students were thrilled to see bright, colorful tools like the Silly Scents dough and the Double-Sided Pop It that felt more like \"fun\" than \"work.\" For children who have often felt defeated by abstract numbers on a page, seeing these tactile resources was a powerful message that their learning needs matter. The Pop It was an instant hit, providing a calming sensory outlet that turned multiplication practice into a game they couldn't wait to play.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using these resources to bridge the gap between \"counting\" and \"calculating.\" In a recent lesson, the money and fraction magnets became the stars of the show; instead of struggling to visualize a word problem, my students moved the magnets across the board to physically build and solve equations. One of my favorite moments was watching a student use the scented dough to model repeated addition; as they smelled the dough and molded it into groups, you could see the \"aha!\" moment on their face as they realized they were actually doing multiplication. These tools have removed the frustration that usually comes with math, replacing it with a sense of pride and mastery.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next step is to use these tools to build independent fluency. We are currently working on a project where students use the glue sticks and manipulatives to create their own \"Math Success Folders\" to keep at their desks. These folders will act as a personal bridge, helping them transition from physically moving the magnets to solving problems on paper with newfound confidence. Because of your generosity, these 20 students are no longer just memorizing facts—they are truly understanding how math works in the real world.","fullyFundedDate":1760553564773,"projectUrl":"project/modeling-math-multiplication-and-fracti/9785029/","projectTitle":"Modeling Math: Multiplication and Fractions Made Tangible!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10297548"},{"teacherId":10297548,"projectId":9790876,"letterContent":"My student's science dreams become reality\r\nThe arrival of our new science resources has completely transformed the energy in our classroom. My students, who often struggle with abstract concepts, are now active scientists. We began using the Microscope Kits immediately, and the classroom was filled with gasps of \"Whoa!\" and \"Is that really what a bee wing looks like?\" One specific moment that stands out was when a student, who typically finds it difficult to focus on written text, spent 15 minutes meticulously adjusting the lens to see the veins in a leaf. For the first time, the \"invisible\" world of biology became something he could see and control.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the students were beyond thrilled. Seeing the Light-Up Terrarium kits and the Butterfly Pavilion stacked on my desk felt like a holiday morning. Many of them had never seen a microscope in person, and their excitement was a beautiful reminder of how much they value having high-quality tools that are \"just for them.\" They took great pride in carefully unboxing the prepared slides, treating them with a level of respect and curiosity that shows how much this investment means to their self-esteem and education. \r\n\r\nOur next steps involved becoming real-world biologists and ecologists as we followed the Butterfly Pavilion project from start to finish. My students used their observation packets daily to track every stage of the life cycle in person. There was a palpable sense of wonder in the room as they watched the tiny caterpillars grow, transform into chrysalises, and finally emerge as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The project culminated in a meaningful trip to our school garden, where the students carefully released the butterflies into the wild. This hands-on journey through metamorphosis didn't just teach them about science; it gave them a sense of responsibility and a front-row seat to the magic of nature. Because of you, my students are using teen mental health books along with classroom and individual whiteboards to support reflection, discussion, and emotional check-ins.\r\n\r\nWe are using the books to guide conversations about emotions, coping strategies, and self-awareness to handle grief. Students use their individual whiteboards to respond to prompts and share ideas in a low-pressure way, while the classroom whiteboard helps us capture shared themes and learning. These tools have increased engagement and made participation more accessible for all students.\r\n\r\nStudents were excited and eager to use the\r\nmaterials. Many immediately picked up the mental health books and shared how relatable they felt, while others were enthusiastic about the whiteboards because they made sharing thoughts easier and more interactive.\r\n\r\nStudents will continue using these resources for reflection activities, goal setting, and deeper social-emotional learning projects focused on personal growth and healthy communication.\r\nThank you for helping create a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students. Your contributions have had an immediate, positive impact on our classroom, and I'm excited to share how these tools are enhancing our students' learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have been especially helpful for our students during independent work time. We've been using them during digital lessons, where students can focus on audio content like podcasts, educational videos, or reading assignments without distractions. This has allowed them to engage deeply with the material and absorb information at their own pace, which is crucial for some of our learners who need that extra bit of concentration.\r\n\r\nThe mice have made navigating our classroom computers and tablets much easier for my students. They now can quickly access resources, complete digital assignments, and play educational games with more control and precision. This is particularly important for students who struggle with trackpads, giving them more confidence in using the devices.\r\n\r\nThe portable speaker has been an absolute game-changer. It's been perfect for when we want to listen to group podcasts or audio clips during lessons. Having clear sound throughout the room has made the learning more interactive and inclusive, and it's helped build a shared experience for the entire class.","fullyFundedDate":1729536438195,"projectUrl":"project/tech-tools-for-tomorrow-empowering-futu/8870491/","projectTitle":"Tech Tools for Tomorrow: Empowering Future Coders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ntui","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8914294_orig.jpg?crop=1089,1089,x18,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722838037514","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8914294"},{"teacherId":8914294,"projectId":8786739,"letterContent":"I'm so excited to share how your generous contributions have truly made a difference in our classroom!
