As a speech-language pathologist, I try to use a variety of materials with my students to keep them engaged and target their individual goals. \r\n\r\nWe know that kids learn best through projects and fun activities, so the crafting supplies and activity sets I received will help my students make great progress over time.\r\n\r\nSome of the materials I'm particularly excited about are the sentence building dominoes, flip chart, and connecting pieces. I work with a lot of students who need support in syntax (grammar). This type of need impacts their spoken and written language skills, both in terms of expression and comprehension. Access to these visuals and manipulatives will be so helpful to improve their understanding of how we put words together to clearly communicate a message! \r\n\r\nI am, of course, excited about the labels and organization bags I received, too -- every teacher loves a good organization system. \r\n\r\nA huge thank-you from myself, my students, and all of the students I will have in the future who will benefit from these materials (and hopefully have tons of fun in speech).","fullyFundedDate":1746472522206,"projectUrl":"project/ms-hodges-elementary-speech-therapy-cl/9079845/","projectTitle":"Ms. Hodge's Elementary Speech Therapy Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hodge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9647987"},{"teacherId":9746267,"projectId":9059559,"letterContent":"Since receiving our new resources, the students have been eager to use them to promote mental wellness in meaningful ways. One of the most exciting projects we've been working on is preparing for our school-wide Mental Health Fair. With the new materials, students have been creating informational booths and coping table stations that showcase healthy coping strategies, stress management techniques, and ways to promote mental wellness. Some students have also been designing interactive activities such as mindfulness exercises, art stations for self-expression, and even a peer support network where students can share and receive advice. The resources have helped bring these ideas to life in ways that engage all students and encourage them to think about mental health as an integral part of their overall well-being.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were thrilled by the possibilities. We immediately began brainstorming ways to use the new resources to make the Mental Health Fair engaging and informative for the entire school. Their excitement was contagious as they began preparing content that was not only educational but also interactive, making mental wellness approachable and fun. As we move forward, the next steps for our project involve finalizing the activities for the fair and promoting it throughout the school. I will be taking the lead in organizing the event, which will feature booths, stations, and discussions on how to create and maintain healthy habits. This initiative will not only help destigmatize mental health but also provide students with practical tools and a supportive community to encourage ongoing mental wellness. The Mental Health Fair will be a celebration of self-care and a chance for everyone in our school to engage in positive, life-changing conversations.","fullyFundedDate":1738906667933,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-fair/9059559/","projectTitle":"Mental Health Fair","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9746267"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29279","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":531,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":70,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"24.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.4,"schoolId":29279,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Reginald M Benton Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Reginald M Benton Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/norwalk-la-mirada-unified-school-district/reginald-m-benton-middle-school/29279"}
