Not only was I excited to find out my project was funded, but my students were excited as well. \r\n\r\nAs soon as boxes started arriving, I would open the boxes in front of students and show what goods had been gifted to us! I let them know that the permanent markers were for all our projects, moving forward. Their first project was \"My Name in Fractions.\" Then, my fourth graders used the permanent markers for a group project when creating visuals for newspapers that followed the effects of WWII on California. \r\n\r\nMy plans moving forward is for both my fourth and fifth graders to use the markers on projects. The anchor chart sent, I have taken some of the papers and laminated them for what Vertical on Permanent Surfaces (VNPS) for math activities, and my students use the Clorox Wipes to wipe down their desks every Friday.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your support in making learning fun!","fullyFundedDate":1739368339009,"projectUrl":"project/permanent-markers-for-permanent-memories/9000774/","projectTitle":"Permanent Markers for Permanent Memories","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Britain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9812806"},{"teacherId":9730941,"projectId":8740939,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to our math manipulatives project. Your support has had an immediate and powerful impact on our classroom, and I'm excited to share how your contribution is helping our students thrive!\r\n\r\nHow We're Using the Resources: Since receiving the materials, we've used the new math manipulatives in so many meaningful ways. One of the most exciting projects we've worked on was building geometric shapes and exploring fractions. Students used the pattern blocks and fraction circles to visually break down and manipulate shapes, making abstract concepts much more accessible. They loved being able to physically interact with their learning, and I've seen their confidence grow as they work through problems hands-on. It's been amazing to see them develop a deeper understanding of geometry and fractions through play and exploration.\r\n\r\nStudent Reactions: The first time my students saw the manipulatives, their faces lit up with excitement! They were eager to dive in and start experimenting. One student exclaimed, \"This is like a puzzle but with math!\" It was a moment of pure joy for all of us, and it was clear that having tools to make learning feel more like a game helped them approach math with enthusiasm instead of apprehension. Their curiosity soared, and I've seen them use the materials in creative ways, often collaborating with peers to solve problems together.\r\n\r\nNext Steps: We're currently working on an interactive project where students are using the base-ten blocks to model multi-digit addition and subtraction. The next step is to have them apply what they've learned to solve real-world word problems. The manipulatives will continue to support their learning as they engage in these more complex math challenges. By using the blocks, they'll be able to visualize carrying over and regrouping, which is something that often causes students to struggle. With these tools, we're building a foundation of skills that will last them throughout their education.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given our students the resources they need to feel confident, curious, and capable in math. Thank you for being a part of their learning journey. We can't wait to continue growing with your support!\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt thanks","fullyFundedDate":1729550199484,"projectUrl":"project/math-masters-5th-graders-can-master-mat/8740939/","projectTitle":"Math Masters! 5th Graders can master math.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9730941"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25942","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":524,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"23.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":25942,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Creek View Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Creek View Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/mountain-view-school-district-san-bernardino/creek-view-elementary-school/25942"}
