With the new soccer balls, kickballs, and jump ropes, students were excited to participate during recess and physical activity time. Having the right equipment allowed them to learn new skills while having fun with their classmates.\r\n\r\nStudents especially enjoyed playing structured soccer and kickball games, where they practiced teamwork, communication, and following game rules. Jump ropes also became a favorite activity, giving students a chance to practice coordination, perseverance, and encouraging one another. It was wonderful to see students who may not always participate in traditional sports become engaged and excited to be active.\r\n\r\nThis new equipment has helped create a more positive and inclusive environment where students can stay active, build friendships, and develop important social skills. The caddies enterchange depending on the need and right now I'm using for markers, pencils and crayons for free choice. They were eager to try them and quickly discovered how the shields could help them create their own focused workspace.\r\n\r\nWe use the privacy shields during independent reading, writing, math, and assessments. Kindergarten classrooms can be busy and full of distractions, so having a personal workspace helps students stay focused on their own work instead of looking at what their classmates are doing. I have noticed that students are able to work for longer periods of time and are becoming more independent learners.\r\n\r\nThe shields have been especially helpful during assessments because they provide students with a quiet space where they can concentrate and show what they know without being distracted by others' work. They have also helped us teach an important classroom skill: respecting our classmates' personal learning spaces.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the privacy shields as students work on increasingly challenging reading, writing, and math activities. For some young learners, sitting still, listening for extended periods of time, or transitioning from one activity to another can be especially challenging. The sensory fidgets have given my students a simple and positive tool to help them regulate themselves while remaining engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nThese materials have been particularly helpful for my students on the autism spectrum. Some of my students can become overwhelmed by the sounds, movement, and sensory stimulation that naturally occur in a busy kindergarten classroom. Having access to a sensory fidget gives them an appropriate way to meet their sensory needs while continuing to participate in classroom activities. Instead of becoming distracted or overwhelmed, they can use a fidget to help their bodies feel calm and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nI have also seen the fidgets support my students during transitions and moments when they need additional help staying focused. Whether we are sitting together for a read-aloud, listening to directions, working independently, or waiting for our next activity, students can use these tools to help manage their energy and attention. This has allowed many of them to participate more successfully in activities that might otherwise be difficult for them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important lessons has been teaching students that sensory tools are not toys—they are learning tools. My students are learning when and how to use them appropriately and are beginning to recognize what helps their own bodies feel calm and focused. This is an important step toward developing self-awareness and independence at such a young age.\r\n\r\nThe fidgets have also helped create a more inclusive classroom. My students are learning that everyone has different needs and that using a tool to help your body learn is perfectly okay. Rather than seeing differences as something negative, we are learning to celebrate the strategies that help each person succeed.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, it has been incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact these simple tools have had. I have watched students become calmer, more focused, and more confident during classroom activities. Most importantly, my students now have additional strategies they can use to help themselves when they are feeling restless, overwhelmed, or in need of sensory input.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped me provide my kindergarten students with more than just fidgets.
