Students settled in comfortably, using our new cardstock, white crayons, and watercolors to create positive affirmation cards for themselves and to share with peers.\r\n\r\nBeyond group sessions, having this wide variety of art supplies has also supported my 1:1 work with students. The fidgets and calming tools have been so helpful. With my co-counselor, we have created a couple programs that we have used the fidgets for. Additionally, we have used the fidgets for students with disabilities or learning needs that need additional support during the day. Students have gotten excited at their options and have voiced how it has really helped while they are in class. It's benefited them with teacher rapport, staying present, and engaging more meaningfully. \r\n\r\nOur projects have included addressing behavior and attendance. For behavior, we have worked individually with students who have struggled with peer relations and impulsivity leading to multiple office referrals. They continue to work towards getting their new favorite fidget and are eager for their prize! We have done a similar initiative to address attendance and tardy concerns. When they have met their goals, they have earned the prize. This has been perfect with student trends and their favorite things!\r\n\r\nBoth as an incentive and a coping tool, these have been such an amazing addition that has brought joy, motivation, and calmness to our site.
