These journals have become an essential part of our classroom, used for both projects and assessments. They help students organize their thoughts, show their problem-solving steps, and reflect on their progress. It's been wonderful to see them take ownership of their work and refer back to previous lessons with confidence.\r\n\r\nThis method of taking notes has transformed the way we approach math. Many of my students don't know how to properly take notes and actually utilize them, so being able to use them in class allows for interactive learning experiences that make abstract concepts come to life. Hands-on journaling keeps students engaged and gives them multiple ways to demonstrate their understanding.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is seeing how their notes helps them check their work and visualize equations in real time. A few students who were initially unsure about math have especially warmed up to it—they're now eager to share their journal pages and even help classmates with new skills. Watching their confidence grow each week has been the most rewarding part of this project.","fullyFundedDate":1744778082309,"projectUrl":"project/math-made-simple/9255151/","projectTitle":"Math Made Simple","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Urquizo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9998690_orig.jpg?crop=2735,2735,x0,y455&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744489072434","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9998690"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103947","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":78,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":103947,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Atwater Valley Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Atwater Valley Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/merced-county-office-of-education/valley-community-school-atwater/103947"}
