They were so excited when they returned from Winter Break and saw some of the new items in the home center play area.\r\n\r\nStudents love hands on exploration of familiar items they have seen, but that they may not have had the opportunity to independently explore. It is wonderful to see 2 students cooperatively playing together to fill and dump the food items from a shopping cart, or hear a student using the phone and \"calling\" their mom. They are also enjoying including adults in their play with our new toys. We are able to work on social skills such as sharing, turn taking, making choices, and cleaning up toys.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to share that I have seen language development gains too. Students have been observed using oral language or attempts at oral language to \"talk\" on the phone.
