With the funds you provided, we purchased a new outdoor chicken coop, and it has quickly become a hub of discovery, responsibility, and community building. \r\n\r\nEach day, our students care for the chickens by feeding them, collecting eggs, and helping with the cleaning of the coop. These activities have given them hands-on lessons in responsibility, teamwork, and empathy for living creatures. Beyond the daily care, they are learning science concepts by observing the chickens' life cycle and needs, strengthening literacy skills through journaling and storytelling, and developing community awareness by selling eggs to help purchase food for the chickens. \r\n\r\nThis project has become a powerful example of how experiential learning can enrich multiple areas of growth. Our students are not only learning about animals and sustainability, but also practicing communication, problem-solving, and collaboration. Most importantly, they are experiencing the joy of contributing to something larger than themselves. \r\n\r\nYour donations have made all of this possible. Because of you, our students are gaining authentic experiences that connect science, literacy, and community goals in ways that will stay with them for years to come. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of our kindergarten class, thank you for investing in our children's education and for helping us nurture curiosity, responsibility, and community spirit.","fullyFundedDate":1761233085701,"projectUrl":"project/bring-the-farm-to-our-city-school-yard/9849725/","projectTitle":"Bring the Farm to Our City School Yard","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp523793_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1594329063634","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sperez"},{"teacherId":10040654,"projectId":9429727,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when the new materials arrived. I use these resources every day during counseling groups and Lunch Bunch, and they have already made a noticeable difference. One moment that stood out was watching a group of 3rd graders who usually struggle with confidence jump right into a teamwork activity using the new games. They were laughing, problem-solving, and supporting each other in a way I hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nMany students were surprised when they first walked into the room and saw everything set up. These materials have helped students feel comfortable, engaged, and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these resources in our upcoming SEL groups to practice communication, self-regulation, and building healthy friendships. Your support made this possible, and my students are already growing because of it. When I first brought them out, the kids' faces lit up! They crowded around the table, asking which one they could try first. Even students who are usually quiet or hesitant were eager to join in.\r\n\r\nThe games have been a perfect way to practice the goals we've been focusing on in Lunch Bunch: following directions, inviting others to play to make new friends, keeping calm bodies and reactions when losing, and practicing sharing and turn-taking. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who normally struggles with losing take a deep breath, smile, and say, \"Good game\" to his friend. That simple shift showed so much growth and self-control.\r\n\r\nAs we keep using these resources, the groups will continue working on cooperation, empathy, and self-regulation. Your generosity has given my students more than fun games , you've given them the tools to build friendships and confidence, and a safe space to practice skills that will help them far beyond Lunch Bunch.","fullyFundedDate":1748385451563,"projectUrl":"project/better-together-building-friendships-th/9370446/","projectTitle":"Better Together: Building Friendships Through Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Killeen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10040654_orig.jpg?crop=827,827,x0,y187&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747955589965","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040654"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28306","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":490,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"27.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.9,"schoolId":28306,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Meadow Green Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Meadow Green Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lowell-joint-school-district/meadow-green-elementary-school/28306"}
