During small group work, students can engage with interactive apps that reinforce math and reading skills, read and listen to fiction and nonfiction books from the app Epic!, while others use the iPads to research, create, and collaborate on projects. Recently, students used the iPads to research people for their Hispanic Heritage Month writing project! This flexibility has helped every child learn at their own pace, meet their goals, and feel successful.\r\n\r\nWe have already seen an increase in student engagement and confidence. Students are placed in small groups based on their reading talents. They are encouraged to follow along with the reading done by the teacher by using their index finger and repeating the words as the teacher reads them.\r\n\r\nStudents who are more mature mentally can comprehend the texts and, therefore, enjoy the books more.
