While these may seem like simple tools they have made an incredible difference in the way my students access learning. In a K–2 extensive needs autism classroom visuals are one of the most powerful ways to support communication, routines and independence. With these resources I am able to quickly create durable, individualized picture schedules, choice boards and adapted learning materials that help my students better understand their day and engage with lessons.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been seeing their materials come to life in color and being able to use them again and again. For many of my students consistency is key having the same set of sturdy laminated visuals each day helps reduce frustration and increases their confidence in following directions and completing tasks. One student, for example, has grown more independent during transitions because he can now carry and use his own laminated schedule instead of relying on constant adult prompts.\r\n\r\nYour donation has truly empowered my students by giving them the tools they need to communicate, participate and feel successful in our classroom.
