When my students first saw the sensory tubs they didn't know what to do with them or how to use them. As we modeled and explore each tub their excite them grew and could not wait to explore them. Some of my students used them to calm their body and touch the foam clay as they hid a dinosaur or other item on their own. Some had so much fun learning the alphabet or sorting different items found in the sensory tubs. I saw them sharing with one another and learning how to take turns and be patient. My students had lots of fun and time to express their emotions through the use of music and emotions play-doh mats. They had the opportunity to choose what feeling they wanted to express or work on. It was priceless to see how they imitated each emotions they worked on. \r\n\r\nSorting and classifying was a hit in our classroom this year! They practice using their fine motor skills and at the same time practice their math skills by feeding each \"pet.\" Some struggle at first and as they continue to do it they got better at it. Some needed that extra support (hand over hand) but still got to enjoy the activities. At first, they were a bit hesitant to touch the insects and bugs but then they began to categorize them and slowly we were sorting by colors and kind. Some of my students were naming the insects (ALL I HEARD WAS LANGUAGE! LANGUAGE!). I was so happy to see them talk and interact with one another while exploring and sorting. We had to extend our group time because they wanted to continue to explore each insect.\r\n\r\nThe Sensory Activity Table for Kids and Toddlers with 2 Plastic Buckets, is a hit in our classroom! My students enjoy hiding the real bugs from the discovery kit into an egg and then trying to guess what will come out. As for the Silly Science Fine Motor Sorting Set, STEM Toys for Kids, Educational Toy, Preschool Fine Motor, my students practice fine motor skills, sharing and waiting for their turn during our small groups. They learn to build different structures while using the Block 3D Building Blocks Tiles. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for the wonderful year we have had thanks to donors like you! My students can't get enough of the Mold and Play Sand. We have used the mold and sand during our small group instruction to predict what kind of insect they will find next in the sand. Also, to observe what happens when you mix purple and blue sand and how the molding sand stays together compared to regular sand. Some of my students have used it to relax and self regulate while engaging in the same activity as their peers. This is great! For my students who benefit from tactile activities this one has been one of their favorites throughout the year. They were so happy and ready to use the sensory toys. They enjoy the materials through small groups, calming time, and when they felt too energetic and help them re-focus. Some of my students calmed down when they touched the bumps on the sensory toys, others counted them as they cooled down, a few sorted them out.
