They started with exploring sounds and started moving into finding rhythm. The instruments, adding to the few I had, gave more students a chance to participate. \r\n\r\nI wish you could hear the sounds through every photo. The smiles come through their eyes even when they are concentrating. They love playing the various instruments to find what sounds they make. Soon they find their favorites but still have time to explore others.\r\n\r\nNot only do students come after school but many come during rainy days since they cannot play outside. My room is open for them and it does my heart good to hear the sounds coming from that corner of my room.\r\n\r\nThank you for allowing me to give this gift of music to the school.","fullyFundedDate":1760693654074,"projectUrl":"project/the-sound-of-music/9768713/","projectTitle":"The Sound of Music","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3401076_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1458273700569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3401076"},{"teacherId":2205758,"projectId":9597637,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations that have helped us realize a longstanding dream: creating a beautiful and meaningful classroom library. This collection has brought immense joy and excitement to our students, transforming their reading experience and enriching their learning in ways beyond the traditional curriculum.\r\n\r\nOur new books serve multiple purposes, carefully chosen to support key lessons and social development. We now have engaging titles that explore comparing and contrasting different versions of stories, helping students deepen their comprehension skills. Other selections guide children through understanding and managing emotions and recognizing the importance of empathy and friendship. Additionally, our library features stories about various family traditions, cultures, and holidays, broadening students' perspectives and fostering inclusivity.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding outcomes has been the creation of a cozy reading corner, a space where students naturally gravitate. Instead of turning to screens, they eagerly ask for reading time after finishing assignments, choosing books over tablets. Sitting in small pods, they immerse themselves in stories that might have otherwise gone unnoticed—those valuable narratives missing from the standard curriculum but essential to diverse learning needs. This accessibility is crucial because every student learns differently; some benefit greatly from extra time with stories that clarify complex concepts or introduce new ideas.\r\n\r\nBy enriching our classroom library, we have nurtured not only literacy but also curiosity, social awareness, and cultural appreciation. This initiative highlights the importance of diverse educational tools that meet students' varied styles and backgrounds. As we look ahead, we hope this library continues to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning—for every child to find their own corner of discovery within these pages.","fullyFundedDate":1755738599400,"projectUrl":"project/a-colorful-library/9597637/","projectTitle":"A Colorful Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Serna","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2205758_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755488970485","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/theunicornteacher"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7416","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":178,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":94,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.8,"schoolId":7416,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bridge Street Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bridge Street Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/bridge-street-elementary-school/7416"}
