Instead of shutting down or becoming frustrated, students are learning strategies to reset and return ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during a difficult morning when a student became overwhelmed after making a mistake during math. Instead of crying or giving up, the student asked to use the calming corner, used the breathing tools and emotion cards, and returned a few minutes later ready to try again. Many of my students do not have access to technology like this at home, so being able to use an iPad at school opens up opportunities for creativity, exploration, and documentation of their learning. Students are using the iPad to take photos and videos of their STEM creations, record their thinking, and reflect on how their designs work. This allows them to slow down and really think about their problem-solving process rather than just focusing on the final product.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things for my students is being able to document and share their work. During our STEM challenges, students build structures and inventions using everyday materials, and then use the iPad to photograph their creations, record explanations, and show how their designs function. The technology helps them practice communication skills while also strengthening their understanding of engineering concepts. They love taking turns being the \"class photographer\" and proudly capturing their classmates' work.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are usually quiet during whole-group discussions have really thrived with this technology. Using the iPad gives them a new way to express their ideas. I've seen students confidently explain their designs on camera, celebrate their classmates' work, and collaborate to get the perfect shot of their structures. It has truly helped bring their creativity and voices to life while making learning more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided a piece of technology, but it has also given my students a powerful tool to explore, create, and share their learning in meaningful ways. Your support has brought hands-on learning, creativity, and excitement to our students in ways that are truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using the STEM bins during our science and problem-solving blocks, as well as during enrichment centers. Recently, students worked in small groups to complete a \"Build a Bridge\" challenge using materials from the bins. They were tasked with designing a bridge that could hold the most weight. Watching them collaborate—testing ideas, redesigning structures, and cheering each other on—was incredible. One group's bridge collapsed during testing, and instead of giving up, they immediately said, \"Let's figure out why and try again!\" That moment perfectly captured the resilience and critical thinking these STEM bins are helping us develop.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the STEM bins, the room buzzed with excitement. There were wide eyes, big smiles, and lots of \"Can we start now?!\" They were amazed by all the different materials and couldn't wait to explore. For many of them, hands-on building and engineering challenges are their favorite way to learn, and your donation made that possible.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are beginning a unit on simple machines and engineering design. Students will use the STEM bins to create prototypes that demonstrate force and motion concepts. They'll sketch their designs, test their models, reflect on what worked (and what didn't), and improve their creations. These next steps will help them strengthen collaboration skills, perseverance, and creative problem-solving—all essential skills for future innovators.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom is filled with curiosity, teamwork, and joyful learning.
