Between new roles, new classes, and a changing teaching schedule, I had so many concerns going into this school year, but none greater than whether or not my school would be able to supply items I may need or want for my upcoming dance class. This class is the first class of its kind offered in our district and, according to some, in our county. And while it has been an honor to be granted this opportunity, it has also been an immense pressure that things go well. \r\n\r\nIt is because of the support through DonorsChoose and the items that have been purchased that much of that stress has been taken off my shoulders. The items have made a difference in my planning through the textbooks and student books that were purchased as well as the physical items that we are able to incorporate into our movement days. Upon entering the classroom for the first time since the items were added, many students began using all of the items right away, adapting them to their needs while they worked. it wasn't until a couple weeks in that students began questioning what the items were for, usually asking as they were using the items for their intended purpose. I almost always laughed when this happened, gleefully explaining that they were for exactly what the students were already using them for. \r\n\r\nThese moments showed me just how positive of an addition the items were in my classroom and that I made decisions when choosing out items. Two of the items students have not yet begun using due to them being restricted to their desks for this first unit. However the bench and portable floor chairs will be used in the next unit as students begin to get reading time at the beginning of each class. I had the idea for it in my first year, and never would I have dreamed that I would be able to start the class by my fourth year of teaching.
