As we start Ch. 3, I've been able to give my students the new reinforced paper and they love it. \r\n\r\nA few students had lost pages that had been ripped out and had to rewrite them by borrowing a friend's notes. Other students had resorted to putting ripped out pages in the pocket of their binder creating an unorganized mess. From now on, no more ripped out pages! My students' notes will stay neat and organized. This helps them as they study for tests; and will really pay off when they take their final exam in December. That is the only test that is \"open notes\".\r\n\r\nMy school had lined paper that I could use, but not reinforced paper. It may seem like a small thing, but it means a lot. I'm all about removing barriers to student learning. You have helped me do that. The laughter and the excitement did wonders for the typical school day. I really saw a huge change in the way they collaborated and got to know each other. \r\nThe microphones have been used for several weeks now in producing the weekly Warriors Weekly videos that are shown during the all school advisory time. The entire student population can enjoy the way they can hear and interact with the video. \r\nThe Mindfullness Game is used to read off cards and remind us the skills we need to calm down and focus on the task at hand rather than all the stressors of school and family. \r\nThank you so much for providing these tools for our students to raise their self-esteem and remind them the skills to keep calm in times of stress.","fullyFundedDate":1747154053022,"projectUrl":"project/sel-for-shs/9326877/","projectTitle":"SEL for JSHS","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5884421_orig.jpg?crop=2784,2784,x799,y856&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746548891635","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsnelsonjshs"},{"teacherId":12574,"projectId":9260784,"letterContent":"The school year is off to a great start thanks in part to your support. My Algebra classes are in full swing and the students are doing a great job taking notes.\r\n\r\nThe students were definitely surprised to see their binders all set up on day one. The index tabs really make the binders so much more organized and helpful. I talked to them about how the index tabs would make it easier to find what they were looking for later in the year as they took their final exam. Final exams are new for 9th graders, so talking about them early helps.\r\n\r\nI know the students enjoy having such great supplies. They take notes every day. There is a spot in the classroom for them to keep their binder, but they can take them home as well if they need them to finish an assignment or study for a test. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping me supply my students with the organizational resources they need to succeed in Algebra. Graphing calculators allow students in advanced mathematics classes to do some pretty amazing things. In Precalculus we can use it to model data from a variety of real-life scenarios with a polynomial, exponential, or sinusoidal function. We can then use that model to make predictions about future results. \r\n\r\nIn AP Calculus we are able to calculate definite integrals quickly so we can spend our time applying the results rather than calculating them. We can also find the instantaneous rate of change of a function at a given value. The AP Calculus exam that my students take in May requires graphing calculators on half of the exam. \r\n\r\nFor the two AP Calculus uses described above, the TI-84 model that your donation funded has significant notational advantages over the older TI-83 model that I have the most of. Because of this, I have been increasing the number of TI-84 models that I have so that everyone in my AP Calculus class has one they can use for the year. I use my older TI-83s with the Precalculus students. Over time, some of the older models also stop working. It's an ongoing replenishment. Your donation helps me achieve this and I am so grateful.
