The flexible seating arrangements have allowed students to work together in a more relaxed, collaborative setting. They now have the freedom to choose seating that suits their needs, whether that's working closer to the board or moving to different areas of the room at various times throughout the day. This flexibility not only helps them stay engaged but also promotes a sense of ownership over their learning environment. The ability to move around, whether for group work or independent tasks, has made a noticeable difference in their focus and enthusiasm. It's been wonderful to see them take advantage of these new options, making the classroom feel more dynamic and conducive to active learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new lower table and folding floor chairs, their excitement was palpable—they couldn't wait to sit in the cozy, flexible spaces and work together. They also absolutely loved the composition notebook-themed carpet, which added a fun and creative touch to the room that made everyone feel even more energized to learn!\r\n\r\nThe next steps for students using the flexible seating arrangements will focus on helping them become even more intentional with their choices to maximize focus and collaboration. I'll encourage students to reflect on how different seating arrangements affect their concentration and productivity. Additionally, we'll start rotating seating positions more frequently to ensure everyone has the chance to experience different areas of the classroom and work styles. This will help them develop a greater sense of ownership over their learning environment and make more mindful decisions about where they can be most successful.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this innovative approach to learning a reality for my students and for enhancing our classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1729775317977,"projectUrl":"project/flex-seating-upgrade/8831254/","projectTitle":"Flex Seating Upgrade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carabes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp46225_orig.jpg?crop=1421,1421,x937,y1310&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696367434566","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrscarabes"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4534","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":293,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":65,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":93.4,"schoolId":4534,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Thomas Edison Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Thomas Edison Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/jefferson-elementary-school-district/thomas-edison-elementary-school/4534"}
