By using consistent colors to designate specific spaces and materials, students are better able to understand expectations and navigate their environment independently. We created clearly marked centers, individual work areas, and calm-down spaces. For my students, visual structure is everything. These simple but intentional visual cues have reduced confusion, minimized transitions challenges, and helped students move more confidently from one task to another.\r\n\r\nThe weighted blanket has also become a vital support in our classroom. Many of my students have sensory processing needs that can make it difficult to focus during academic tasks. The weighted blanket provides calming, deep pressure input that helps regulate their bodies and emotions. Students now independently request the blanket when they feel overwhelmed or dysregulated. Instead of escalating behaviors, they are learning to use appropriate coping tools — which is a huge success.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helped create a classroom that feels organized, predictable, and supportive of sensory needs. These materials continue to make a meaningful difference in my students' ability to regulate, engage, and succeed academically. Thank you for helping build an environment where all learners can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1693165935300,"projectUrl":"project/clear-boundaries-with-fun-rugs/7597764/","projectTitle":"Clear Boundaries With Fun Rugs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Watson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jaclyn-watson"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_92920","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":447,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":35,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"26.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":92920,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greentree Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greentree Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/irvine-unified-school-district/greentree-elementary-school/92920"}
