Beginning readers are understanding phonemes- the sounds that each letter makes while older students are becoming critical thinkers in how they can form infinite word combinations. Even when creating nonsense words students are finding joy in the way words work. English Learners are using word cards to solidify their knowledge in vowel and consonant sounds.
