They practiced making predictions, inferring characters' feelings, and connecting events in the story to their own lives. The book's blend of adventure and emotion created an authentic context for practicing reading strategies while keeping students eager to see what happened next.\r\n\r\nStudents were deeply invested in the characters, especially Brightbill and Roz, and they were quick to draw parallels between the challenges these characters faced and their own experiences. Brightbill's journey of growing up with Roz as his caretaker encouraged conversations about love, resilience, and friendship, which helped students express their emotions and perspectives. The story's mix of natural elements and futuristic technology gave students a platform to think critically and ask big questions about the world around them.
