Because if your kind and thoughtful donation, my students were able to enjoy their \"calm corner\" when they were feeling anxious or sad. They also used it when it when it was time to read alone it with a partner. It brought my students tranquility, peace, and comfort in their time of learning and social emotional wellbeing. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and support towards my classroom and for my students. Our calming area became my students favorite place to be for security and comfort. A huge thank you to The Campbell Foundation for funding the majority of our project, and to the DonorsChoose New Teacher Fund for matching the donation of an anonymous donor in California—your support helped bring our \"Flexible Environments Enrich Focused Growing Minds\" project to life.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the new resources, the impact on our classroom has been remarkable. Our students are more focused, engaged, and thriving. Not only have they shown academic growth, but they've also become more emotionally aware and respectful of their classmates' boundaries. This project has allowed me to create a learning environment that supports both the academic and social-emotional needs of my students. They are now able to self-regulate and choose flexible seating options that help them stay on task, even during the most rigorous lessons.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding moments was when students returned from Winter Break to find the new materials waiting for them. Their excitement was contagious—there were enough boxes for each group to open and help assemble, which made them feel directly involved in the transformation of their classroom. They immediately recognized the value of the resources and were eager to use them. Some even asked their parents to purchase similar items for home so they could recreate the focused learning environment there too.\r\n\r\nThanks to these tools, several students have reclassified as English learners and have been recognized with medals for achieving their i-Ready stretch goals—an incredible accomplishment in our region. Watching them reach their academic and Dual Immersion goals has been an inspiring and proud experience.\r\n\r\nTo some, it may seem like \"just\" new seating or a lap desk—but to my students, these were gifts that helped them feel seen, supported, and capable of success. These resources have played a critical role in helping them manage anxiety, stay focused, and navigate the challenges of high academic standards.\r\n\r\nI'm beyond thankful to share this journey on this platform. Thank you for believing in us, for investing in our classroom, and for making a real difference. A million thanks.","fullyFundedDate":1731940473967,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-environments-enrich-focused-gro/8904656/","projectTitle":"Flexible Environments Enrich Focused Growing Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Frias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9816832"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_77373","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":688,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":77373,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Burroughs Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Burroughs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fresno-unified-school-district/burroughs-elementary-school/77373"}
